Feather and Kai shaves

Forum GOD!
Beautiful straight razor @Twelvefret!
Thank you. That big Zenith you sent looks good in the photo. :okay:

I recall sweating the bidding process. It checks all the boxes, shoulderless spine, "barber's notch" which some speculate helps open the razor without touching. The scales are common for the era on other brands, but they caught my attention.

Here is some history on D.E. Donahue Hardware which dates the razor at least 100 years old. Donahue Hardware | Historic Tours & Markers | Erie County Historical Society :bookworm:

John Holler/Tower Brand were headquartered in New York and imported both English and German goods. :hotdrink:

Just to follow-up with this morning's results, I used the Feather for a first pass and the Holler for the cleanup. Beard mapping is my friend.

The DX had quite benignly fallen out of active rotation for a few weeks, with nary an appearance for probably close to a month. Well, that was a mistake! It’s becoming obvious to me why this model is considered by many to be at the top of the RBSR food chain. It somehow feels “more” than the other two. Is it the different blade design? Could be, I don’t know enough yet. Regardless, it was an absolutely stellar three pass shave!

A solid 9+ with no nicks, no bloods, no errors.
