Yes, buying a 19mm replacement synthetic knot is a common and recommended practice when fitting it into a handle designed for a 20mm knot. I’m going to replace the know with a synthetic as I prefer synthetic knots. It’s listed with a 20mm knot. Do I buy a 19mm replacement leaving 1mm for the epoxy ? Seem to recall, but not sure.
