Does anyone own a Tradere yet? Anxious for a review!

I cancelled my pre order as well when I bought the pils bt for reasons unconnected with performance. I am quite confident that any razor blackland razors sells will be a quality performing razor and I understand that the shaving profiles and performance of those two razors actually differ significantly.

However I collect modern razors for their distinctive design and aesthetic looks as much as for their actual performance and the tradere's head is too similar to the pils head in ts enclosed design and shape and mostly flat baseplate looks-wise. Since the pils is without question the pionner and iconic progenitor of that look, it makes sense to me to stick with the pils for its design contribution to the shaving razor universe since the looks of the head of the ttadere was inspired by the pils design.
Very, very nicely put...and I couldn‘t agree more. BUT, for someone looking for more efficiency than the Pils and the option of switching out handles, the Tradere will be very interesting.

I understand they once made on in solid gold. Too bad you missed out. :giggle:

My own experience of the pils seems to differ more than other- I find it efficient enough and there is more blade feel than the masamune and asd2.

For anyone that doesn't want to have the hassle of getting hit with import fees and taxes, there's an original open comb Tradere on eBay just now.

Buy it now for only £950!!!

Just got delivered earlier today. The Blackland Tradere SB. Gorgeous looking tool as the pics don’t do it enough justice to be honest. Looking to put through a weeks worth of shaves. Yes, that’s a new Dart in the background. Ordered another as I stupidly traded my first one away. Regretted that move ever since....

@Str8Mug looking forward to your review as I have debated picking one up. I have the original Version 1 OC and enjoy it but it is not a daily driver.
We'll see how it goes amigo. If it can give me a good feeling mid-aggressive shave say like GC .84 SB or close to it, I'm happy. Honestly I was hooked with its aesthetics and catching an original Tradere is nearly impossible, Pink Whale like. It's gorgeous to look at. Performance is next soon......

Received it yesterday and went with its first shave tonight. Just a few sentences on feel, fit, fitment and quality of product & shave. First is this is an exceptionally produced razor with near mirror like quality finish. Tooling marks from the end mill are ever so slight and barely noticeable, that’s how good of a polishing job was done at least on my razor. But, if you’re looking for them you will see them. To me it’s insignificant as the overall look of the razor is superb. Another thing is that the razor head assembly is BIG. Perhaps one of the bigger head units in my collection. But, that enclosed look with the ridges on the covered end tabs is just beautifully done. Finger & thumb fit in the end recesses nearly naturally once lifting the top cap to reveal the stepped base plate which is another thing of beauty. The blade fits precisely into the top cap with barely any wiggle seen with the bottom plate fitting precisely into it. Grab the gorgeous handle and turn it onto the top cap stud smoothly and with minimal effort. It’s a classy and unique looking piece of kit once loaded and ready to go. The handle has some length to it and once put together it’s a tall razor. Balance is quite nice with pretty good weight distribution but, I feel it has a bit more weight biased to the top which is fine by me. Knurling is not as deep or pronounced as say a Rex Ambassador but, it’s more than sufficient to keep a good grip on it with nice tactile feel as well. If it falls out of ones hands, it’s because your all thumbs, period.

First shave was quite good. Installed a one time used Feather and the combo knocked down 24 hours of growth in 3 easy carefree passes. No nics, cuts, weepers or irritation to speak of. Want to put it through a full weeks worth of shaves and with a few different blades to see how it goes. It’s smooth and a bit on the milder side but, it cuts nicely with muted efficiency. Looking forward to the shaves with the Tradere from Blackland and getting to know it well....

@Str8Mug assuming you have some experience with Karve‘s offerings, which plate would be closest to the Tradere SB?
Humm? It's been a while since I've shaved with a Karve. Don't quote me on this but, I think if memory serves me correctly the Tradere SB feels somewhere between a C & D plate, closer to the C though with a tiny bit more blade feel and just as smooth and easy.....

I think this razor will be quite polarising. I cant work out if I even like the look of it or not, I might give it a go on BST. Although I'm still tempted by the Dart.
