This is my third brush, every time I purchase one I ask him if he can declare the value for a lesser ammount and he always says he declares full value. Have you asked him to declare a lower value and he has done it for you?

No, I have never asked - but I know of other people that have and they always receive the same answer that you received - I have one Wald A1 only.

It is a shame as the brush ends up being £40 - £60 on top of the price. Stupid tax rules LOL

To be fair to the vendor making a false declaration on a customs form is fraud, so I can see why many are reluctant to do so.

Not a good idea for insurance as well. Imagine if your new Wolfman disappeared and had a low value declared.

An overseas vendor, who shall remain unnamed, told me a few years ago that he wouldn't falsify a declaration. A good friend of his in a non-shaving related business was caught by their Customs during a spot check. His goods were then subject to frequent verification checks.

It's down as a separate item: clearance fee (zero rated for VAT) on top of the customs duty and import VAT

£25 is daylight robbery. As part of Royal Mail, I'd be interested to know if their £8 has been raised.
