Why test? Can't tell you when you had it if it's positive, and can't tell you anything with 100% accuracy either way. But if you die they will probably list CCP virus as either the cause or a contributing factor. If you got better just move on like you always have before when you were sick and got better.
Firstly because if you know you’ve had it and it was mild it’s likely that if you did get it again it would also be mild because your body has a head start with the antibodies, secondly because statistics are useful for tracking the thing, thirdly because if I know I’ve had it I know my wife and daughter have also been exposed to it and not had much if any reaction suggesting that they’re not particularly susceptible. Also, if the test is negative despite the number of people I’ve come into contact with at the hospital, including going into the Covid areas and having direct contact with the staff working in those areas that suggests that the chances of me catching it are not that big.
Personally I don’t really care when I had it, I just want to know if I did.

But if the test isn't reliable the results can't be trusted.
The Roche test is 100% accurate for positive results and 99.7% accurate for negatives. You’ll never get 100% for negative results as you can’t prove a negative. That’s reliable enough for me, and for the NHS.

Similar situation with me just before Xmas. Very bad 'flu' i.e. completely knocked out for 4 days followed by a persistent dry cough that took weeks to shake off. Would certainly like to get an antibody test, but not sure how without having to pay for it.

Some say that Cov2 may existed in many countries before the official WHO declared it. But it wouldn't be easy to catch it like now.
I believe you had just a flu.
Whether or not the Covid 19 caused human infections well before the Covid 19 recognized recorded infections began is irrelevant and a bit of a red herring. It simply does not matter in getting the pandemic under control which is the important thing. That and the China/WHO controversy are best left till after the pandemic is over.

I can't see that the pandemic will be "over" until there is either an effective immediate treatment or a vaccine. I think the idea that this will magically "end" is blue sky thinking. I know this wasn't the focus of your post and it's easy to think it will end, but frankly I don't see how. This pandemic has travelled to all the corners of the world unlike more specific virus outbreaks. AIDS is still with us many years on, for instance.
