Chinese Feather clones

I use such razors. I had a folding handle, now a kamisori. These are pretty good quality products.
Blades for them made in China are not very high quality. They are inexpensive, rather soft (and some consider them dumb), but enough to shave 1-2 times. These blades are interchangeable with the original, made in Japan (Pen). The difference in length is 1 mm (49 versus 50), but they fit perfectly on the fasteners, 1 mm does not play a role.
In general, I am very pleased with the purchase of these razors.

Going to respectfully disagree, I don't find one easier to use than the other.

I have tried all the Feather SS and DX. As mentioned above, the SS has a little lip which reduces the blade exposure. Not sure if the clone will be the same.

Pic shows from top to bottom, Kai Excelia, Kai Captain clone and Kai Captain folding. All are fitted with a Schick Proline.

To the naked eye, I would say the clone has a tiny bit more blade exposure. The Kai Captain and Excelia have slightly less blade exposure compared to a Feather DX. I would say the clone is probably on par with the DX.

I have added a pic with the caps removed. The clone is really well made and should last just as long as the originals.

Yes....price. Not too long ago the UK list on that one was £750. They shave the same

Nope, they all shave the same. The top and bottom ones are made by Kai and are better build quality but cost more.
The Excelia feels better in the hand. I think it might be aluminium and SS, but it's not too heavy.

To to be honest, you are not missing out on much by buying the clone.

I think you can get the folding one in a clone as well.

Yes....for a while they were only available from the manufacturer's UK site which was targeted at Professional Barbers. They also produce high quality barber tools. It has now reappeared on one of the shaving sites we all frequent at a fraction of that price. It's more in line with the Feather DX series now

I can't remember how much I paid for it but it was no where near the £750. Same price as a Feather DX sounds about right.

There is a rarer folding version which costs a bit more.

First of all, a BIG THANK YOU to @Merkurologist for the beautiful video he posted a while a go (both hands shave) which gave me a nice boost toward the decision, and also his support in the comments of the mentioned thread. And also to everyone posting and commenting in this thread.

Had two shaves untill today and i must say it's a joy to use with the guarded Kai Pro Touch MG blade and feels great to practice using the non-dominant hand. It also gave me confidence to go for one XTG pass on the first shave! My neck growth directions are a bit chaotic, so no use of patterning shave directions there, so i do it with utmost caution to get at least a DFS. And i do get it. On the second shave, yesterday evening, i even went ATG, but only on the cheeks, and it gave a BBS there that was more thorough and less aggressive than any DE razor i've used so far.
The design allows shaving without skin stretching, but i do it when seems beneficial. I've had only one small nick on the jawline on the second shave, due to using my left hand and thus slightly missing the correct angle at the moment of placing the blade on the skin. It didn't get worse because i've felt a light sting and lifted the blade of the skin at the same moment.
To summarize, i'm thinking of letting go of my Super Speed Silver Flare and Slim Adjustable to buy another cloned model or save for an original. This is the FIRST razor i actually really enjoy using, and looking forward to the next shave.

Get an original. Clones are like kissing your sister no matter how great the experience. That said, I only had a brother and we didn't kiss...LOL!!
