Cheese.. Do you imbibe?

I like aerosol cheese sprayed on twiglets. I tend to eat them while wearing fingerless gloves. Then in my other pocket I have mini pork pies, scotch eggs and pork scratchings.

Here in Norway there is a rather a strange but wonderfully tasty cheese known as Pultost.... it is a soft, soured milk cheese with caraway seeds. It's magical on baked potatoes

Ahh, cheese... Preference is for strong, salty and tangy. Smokey is okay. Bland cheese makes me feel almost as though I’m wasting my time. No offense intended to those who enjoy the stuff.

Forgive my ignorance. Cheese and onions must be a great, traditional English snack sensation. I imagine a strong cheese with a sweet (i.e., Vidalia) onion would be delicious. I must try that. In the meantime, a song!

I tried Norwegian brown cheese when I was there last August. I’d have to say that it’s an acquired taste, and this is from someone whose favourite cheese is Stilton. I didn’t come across Pultost, however.

Bought a piece of classic Oka cheese this morning. Oka is a semi-soft cows’ milk cheese originally made by Trappist Monks in Oka, Quebec; it’s still made in Oka today, but by a commercial operation. It has a very distinct aroma and flavour. Oka and Stilton are my favourite cheeses, but for daily munching I really like an aged English cheddar; I don’t like Canadian cheddar, however.

English Cheddar (the original and only Cheddar) has a smooth, rich taste. Canadian ‘cheddar’ (the wannabe cheddar) is rougher and a bit harsh on the palate with a less refined, weaker taste. Some Canadian ‘cheddars’ remind me of eating a piece of soap; not something I’ve experienced with real Cheddar. Try a side-by-side comparison. One man’s meat is another man’s poison. But there is only one Cheddar cheese and that comes from Cheddar, England.

I have never seen English made Cheddar cheese at our local grocery stores, but I'll keep a lookout for some. I've has some US made Cheddar cheese which I found to be very bland. We have Canadian made found Armstrong extra old to be very tasty.
