Birkenstocks: Worth the Hype?

Let’s tone down the rhetoric. Time will tell if the OP is into wet shaving or not. In the meantime, I highly recommend Keen Newport sandals to the OP, but my wife and daughter-in-law standby the Birkies.

Give me Teva Tanza with Vibram soles over the ugly Birkenstocks, you either need to be a social worker or a Lesbian activist if you wear Birkenstocks.
Sorry, @JamieM , not a Velcro fan. And, no social worker or lesbian advocate would be caught dead wearing old man sandals with Velcro. :D We have our principles to consider.

I am from Germany, I know Birkenstock for more than 30 years. I prefer the Boston Model to wear at home but I had the Arizona Model too.
I can compare them also to the cheap Discounter made imitations.
The original is far better and very long lasting. And they are available in regular width and more narrow ones.

For me they are absolutely worth the price.

Don't be the old man. When Birkenstocks were introduced to the US in 1966.

Are you sure she didn't say, "it iconic"?

I've tried wooden clogs and Dansko clogs. The Danko has the famous disintegrating sole problems. No ,more of them...LOL!!

Since retirement, I wear the hiking boots more and for everyday and volunteering, Van's skate shoes have grippy gum soles and so comfortable.

The Doc Martins are relegated to "Sunday-go-to- meetings".
Definitely ironic.. That's why I don't understand the youth of today (she's 11 years my junior.)

I grew up in the 90s, back then something was either rad (cool) or sad (uncool) but these days you can wear something uncool but if you claim to be wearing it ironically then it's magically transformed into cool.

On a somewhat related note, are you familiar with skibidi toilet? :D

The '90's were definitely a time of conformity, preceded by the '70's which as a time of "do your own thing", which followed the conformities of the early 1960's.

JFK didn't wear a fedora and that ended an era.

Yes, I was introduced to Skibidi Toliet by a 12 year old...LOL!!
