I've got 2 weeks on the BBS-1 now and I have decided it is "the one" for me. It takes the number one spot from the Blackbird polished. I traded the first BBS1 I had for an aluminium Wolfman, and that now looks like it was the wrong decision for me. At the time, I'd never tried a Wolfman, and I'd never tried an aluminium razor, so I was really curious. You live and learn.
My characterisation of the BBS1 is like this... I have never cut myself with it. I have never experienced any irritation from it. It's as safe with a Feather as with a Voskhod. I can use the blades I was considering selling off, and they perform smoothly. I can whizz around my face and there is no risk of any grief.
If I concentrate, the shave will be very close. If I don't concentrate, the shave will be less close, but still smooth feeling. I can buff like crazy with this thing to clear up any bits I didn't get through lack of concentration. In particular, the buffing capability seems amazing. I've only experienced that with the ASD2 and the Hone which are both much less efficient razors. I'd wager I could shave safely on the top lip going ATG if I wanted to (don't really need to).
I can (and have) shave twice a day or more with no irritation. I'm finding it hard to use anything else right now.
