Does anyone know how the old polished razors compare to the new "basic" polish and "mirror" polish?

I've been on a waiting list for a BBS1 for over a year and just heard he has one for me. With all the new boys on the block, we don't hear so much about this razor any more. Do those that have one still rate it?
