Forum GOD!
You couldn’t make it up.
Noticed Thursday that I’d got caught with the charges, went online and paid the fee, having today as delivery.
The grey card was posted though the door yesterday. Sat in all day waiting for delivery, still nothing.
Going online shows as awaiting payment as per the grey card but have the email saying payment accepted and delivery today 😡

As it turns out, I've decided to move my aluminium Apex on (see the BST).

Thoughts:
  • Still didn't like the handle when dry (when it was a little slippery), but it was fine in use - the sandblasted texture actually yielded a decent grip, also thanks to the light weight of the whole razor.
  • Had a fair amount of blade flex, which I didn't expect, given the small blade reveal and exposure, as it didn't seem to be clamping the blade all that far from the cutting edge.
  • To me, it felt a little bitey and just a little rough. Likely because of the flex as observed above. It seemed to make even a fairly mild blade like Big Ben Super Stainless feel like a Feather.
    • It felt less bitey when riding the guard, which somewhat surprised me, as for me, it's usually better when riding the cap. However, still a little "unsafe."
  • When using it to mow down maybe 2 weeks of growth off my upper arms, hair got stuck under the blade and I had to eventually unscrew the handle about half way to rinse the hair out.
    • Admittedly not the most common scenario, but I'd thought it worth noting.
  • While it might've looked like the top cap curves on the inside past the clamping point, that doesn't actually seem to be the case.
In comparison with Karve Bison, the Apex aluminium felt smoother, but had more blade feel and was also a little more efficient on the first pass. On the other hand, I still needed 3 passes with it, and regardless of the angle used, my skin felt a bit tender on the Apex side afterwards. Because it felt a bit aggressive, I'm pretty sure I wasn't heavy-handed with it.

In comparison with Henson Al13 medium, it felt more aggressive and a little less smooth at comparable efficiency.

Notes:
Blade I'd tried it with: Gillette Permasharp, Big Ben Super Stainless and Astra SP.
I've also tried it with two different soaps.

I'd still like to try the stainless steel one to see how that one would feel.

As much as I wanted to try the Paradigm first I owe it to Kaleb and the passaround to get my turn done first.
I haven’t enjoyed any Ali razors up to now so started with that first.
You could also try the aluminium one with the steel Apex handle to see how much that would change things.
I tried it on a steel handle, and it ended up being about the same for me, but I'm pretty well used to aluminium razors at this point, I think.
