One of the best SE razors ever produced in the Artist Club realm and just for the sake of a healthy discussion, one could argue that it could be the best razor ever made regardless of blade format. The blade melds seamlessly into this razor and it just produces one of the softest skin feeling performers while being ruthlessly efficient on the whiskers regardless of daily or a full two weeks worth or more of beard growth. The price is the biggest negative with the La Faulx but, that argument has existed since the beginning when men decided they wanted to look presentable in all facets of life and needed something sharp to bring down the whiskers. The Paradigm Ti SE was one of the smoothest razors I’ve ever tried but, for me lacked the cutting ability that I required. The La Faulx equals that level of smoothness if not surpassing the Paradigm altogether. It really is a phenomenal razor and if I were to recommend to anyone on this planet that had the funds to acquire any razor ever made that combined all attributes of ease of use, feel on skin and it’s elite level craftsmanship, the La Faulx would definitely be in the top 1% of that recommendation.

Agree with you regarding this razor. After taking my time, going back and forth on whether to purchase this razor or not - I took the plunge and bought the Machined SS with the ++ SB plate and then ordered the ultra SB plate under a seperate order. It's truly a wonderful razor.

Congrats on the acquisition and may it provide many, many years of impeccably good shaves. I have no doubt about that.

Cheers amigo....

Just an astoundingly great shave from a phenomenal razor. Yes, it’s just a tool holder for a piece of sharpened steel but, it truly is one of the finest safety razors ever made. Undoubtedly it comes with a price and a hefty one at that however, I don’t chase high end items at every purchase nor at every release. But, I do treat myself every once in a while to some quality craftsmanship within the shave hobby. The La Faulx is no exception and truly a worthy investment in my experience. Impeccably done with impeccable precision and execution.

This one is coming down the pike from Atelier Durdan. One is going to be sent to the DFS forum in a pass around. It's an adjustable SE razor called the Horizon.

Once in hand, I'll post here with initial thoughts and shave experiences. Looking forward to this one.

Gus, totally awaiting your feedback on this. I love everything that Augustin makes, he really is a master craftsman.

I do have a question regarding the Le Faulx and this is for someone who has owned both the ++ and the +++. I have used a friend's ++ and loved the shave delivery, it was smooth but I needed a few touch ups to get a BBS. Is there a big difference in the efficiency between the ++ and the +++. Does the +++ sacrifice smoothness for efficiency ?

The reason I'm asking is that I know with the Numero 7, the increased blade gap also means increased blade exposure and I'm cool with that which makes it easy to decide on your base plate configuration. In the Le Maurice the exposure remains the same across the blade gaps. I liked the 1.8 Le Maurice but found that the jump in efficiency is not much from the 1.6 but the drop in smoothness is evident when compared to the lower blade gap. I find the 1.6 to be the sweet spot for the Le Maurice.

Would appreciate the help my friends.

I have both of the above plates. For me only, I can shave with the ++ plate and take down 2-4 days of wirey growth fairly easily and the plate is very smooth and efficient. Anything over 4 days, I use the +++ or ultra plate, which is also very smooth and efficient - but I do notice a difference in the efficiency level here. I cannot shave with the +++ (ultra) plate on a daily basis - for me only.

I much prefer the ++ plate as my daily driver, although I tend to shave every other day - unless I have a client meeting that I have to attend.

Thanks for that mate, that makes a lot of sense. I do shave every other day too and sometimes every third day. So, when using the Karve CB, I used to use the D plate often but once I found the G plate, that became my go to base plate whether it was shaving every two days or three.

Maybe the ++ might be a better choice for me, it seems like the sweet spot in the Le Faulx.
