3D printed shaving stuff

I managed to persuade the author to give me permission to publish my English translation. I liked his scientific approach.
Personally, I just stand the brush on the handle.
I have one brush stand (that came with some brush), but my favourite 30mm brush won't fit anyway.
They come with a flat bottom on purpose. 👍

That makes me think it could work fine with Feathers, too. I should have these printed, too. :)
Under the top of the cap there are tabs that insert into the cut outs of the Gem blade. The Feathers don't have these cutouts and would change the blade angle.

Just thought I share my silly approach to making straight razor wood scales. I know this post is not totally 3d printing related, but I did have to print a couple of parts to get the job done.

This is my super simple straight razor scale duplicating jig. Since it has a single pivot point, it will not duplicate at 100% scale, but it gets very close. It's definitely cheaper and less complicated than a full-blown router duplicator. I think the pictures explain it better, but my basic design consists of a 3d printed rotary tool mount with a guide pin and a dowel rod for stabilizing movement. The other end of the dowel rod is stabilized by a 3d printed bracket with a hole for the dowel rod to pivot about. With this setup, the rotary tool can be moved in any direction and can pivot left and right of the cutting bit. The guide pin is rounded to the same shape as the cutting bit so it matches the angle regardless of the left and right tilt of the rotary tool.

Here's what's been in the works lately. This is a combination of several of my designs. When I designed the triceratops, the idea was to make it easy to print without supports, but really, it was meant to look like a mini J A Henckels Rapide. And my EndGem design started as a C V Heljestrand SE. This is as close as I'm going to get to duplicating two of my favorites. Unlike the Rapide which uses a threaded knob and spring at the collar for locking the blade, this one uses the tip of the thread to push the tension lever against the blade when you turn the handle. The pics below are just a draft version. Once I refined the geometry for optimal printing without supports, I'll upload the files on Thingiverse.

I've been meaning to get this razor design finalized, but still, it remains in the early stages. For now, I'll call it a work-in-progress. This is an AC style razor with no guard. I figure if a feather artist straight can do the trick, then, so can this one. To load the blade, the head will pivot left or right of the handle, and the top and bottom plates will release the tension on the blade for easy loading and unloading. By offsetting the pivot point on one of the head plates, the blade clamp will open about two millimeters when pivoting left or right. The handle will have an index point, and lock with tension when centered.

This 3d printed SE razor was appropriately named "RAPTOR SE" by fellow forum member @Electrif. The design was inspired by the J A Henckels RAPIDE. If it doesn't look much like the Rapide, it's because it was heavily modified for easy printing. By maintaining floating angles to less than 60 degrees in the design, this razor can be printed without supports, which means, zero post-processing. The design's geometry also follows the physical characteristics of standard 3d printers, such as 0.2mm radius minimum, 0.4mm wall increments, and a 0.12 layer height rule for consistent 200 point stepper-motor rotation. In short, what all this means is that the parts will print with more accurate dimensions, minimal artifacts, and a more solid inner structure. The files are now available for download on Thingiverse.
