Tallow soap - should Wickhams...

I agree but some people loved the Emperors new clothes too. :p:
What do you know, you think short handles rule..
Well, I actually agree with @Wayne in as much as I found L&L Bison tallow to be equally as good as Mike's with its normal, boring old beef tallow, and Mike's is, in my opinion, an excellent soap. But as YMMV on soaps some will find the L&L better than 'an excellent beef tallow soap' and some worse.

For those who find the bison soap better than a beef soap it might be the difference between bison and beef or the difference between the two formulae. And the only way to find out would be to try a beef version of the bison soap. Therefore, the only person who knows if bison is marketing or marvelous is the creator IF they compared the two. I have read reports of some users preferring the lamb tallow Stirling over the beef tallow. Whether that is the emperor's new clothes or not I wouldn't know but I do know that beef tastes different to lamb so why wouldn't the tallow perform differently? Is tallow just fat?

Hmmmnn! I just think that Artisans are trying to stay one step ahead of each other in a crowded market, especially in the U.S therefore saying “My soap has Bison Tallow” “Mine has Duck Tallow” “Mine has Beaver tail fat” just makes them stand out from the myriad of other ‘Artisan’ soap makers and just gives them that I must try it edge. Hey! I could be talking Rocking Horse Poo...... Now there’s a thought!

Why include an animal based product, that might not perform any better ...
I'm not criticizing your lifestyle choice, and I'm going to come off sounding like an insensitive prick, so I apologize ahead of time...But...
Because tallow soaps perform better!
In every single instance where a soap maker produces both tallow/vegan bases, the tallow soaps work better for me.
I've used a LOT of soaps, and given a choice between tallow or vegan...I'll always choose tallow.

This has been the best thread on ATG for a while, really enjoyable reading...
IMO, if your business was originally set up to provide a vegan soap, then you are likely "straying from your path," and yeah, you alienate your vegan disciples.
However, I seem to recall supersmooth had lanolin as an ingredient? This would imply that you set out to create "shaving soap" with no intention to satisfy the vegan only market.
If you feel that offering a Tallow is not what your business was originally about, then you should continue with the vegan theme. If creating shaving soap is your business, then fill your boots, offer a tallow base and increase your customer base!

I’m all for a Vegan soap, personally I think it is ethical and responsible, offends no one and means methane isn’t ruining the planet to produce it. I would like it more in a lovely wood and leather trimmed box to add a touch of class.

I prefer NSS Original to the tallow Traditional. :p:

But tallow Wholly Kaw is much better than the vegan version. IMHO.

Rocking Horse poo. Reminds me of the Tommy Cooper joke. "I'm the most unluckiest guy I know, I had a rocking horse and he died"

Yeah but who doesn't like a bit of beaver tail fat around their chops? :D

@Wayne beef tallow it is. I did try for Highland Tallow but it's like trying to source Rocking Horse Poo down here in Hampshire. Unfortunately the companies I telephoned will not post as it has to be kept refrigerated and the cost is more than the price of bulk product itself.
