Live And Let Die - Big Rog steps into the Bond shoes and it's really rather good. The main villains death is a bit stupid and the boat chase goes on waaayyyy too long (excellent stunts aside) but there are so many plus points..I'm mainly repeating
@Redd here
New Orleans Jazz Funeral
Samedi, Tee Hee & Whisper - superb henchmen and Geoffrey Holder has a laugh that'll blow your subwoofer
Geoffrey Holder himself - Excellent physical performance, even rests his hand on a cane in a cool way. And that final shot on the train is great.
The theme song - possibly the best one...
.possibly.
Bond's powder blue leisure suit - Dear Lord it's beautiful.
Jane Seymour as Solitaire - I was quite taken with Plenty O'Toole but a young Dr.Quinn Medicine Woman is making it an impossible choice.
Big mention though has to go to a certain Ross Kananga. Mr.Kananga is the owner of the crocodile farm where part of LALD was filmed and made such an impression that the main villain was named after him. Being very familiar with the crocs he was the guy who perfomed the famous croc leaping scene.....over
ACTUAL CROCODILES
Yep - Not models of crocs but he stepped across the backs of some very lively and rather ill tempered crocodiles as no stuntman in their right mind would perform that stunt. Add to that it took 5 takes and one of those takes involve him getting his foot very nearly took clean off! It's made even madder by the fact that after the 2nd take the crocodiles clearly know what's coming and are bracing themselves for a bonus meal.
The 5 takes are at around 2:35 on this video but it's worth watching the whole thing for a bit of background on the guy....and Jane Seymour still scrubbing up very well many years later.
