Moonlight (2016). A rather poignant story that follows the life of a black American from his boyhood to young adulthood and slightly beyond. Some of the central themes are family relationships, drugs, bullying and sexuality. In this movie, the well-chosen music serves to break up some of the underlying tension. The acting was very good. Not an easy movie to watch (just as Silence above), but once again a rather thought-provoking production. 8/10.

Diamonds Are Forever - Had never actually watched this one and went into it with it's reputation as one of the poorest Bonds ever hanging over my preconceptions. Cue me being pleasantly surprised! It's ropey in parts and ripe in others but I really enjoyed it. Honorable mentions to Mr.Kidd & Mr.Wint and to Plenty O'Toole especially.

Watching it hot on the heels of OHMSS though it seems rather insensitive of Ms.Moneypenny to be dropping hints about wedding rings. I'm guessing "The Other Fellow" got over his dead wife pretty quickly.

Split (2017). A rather intense and mind-boggling film. (After all, it is about a person whose mind is boggled…) Amazing performance by James McAvoy, and all the other actors, too. Well, except for a lady at the very end, who had a single line to say, and somehow managed to make it sound like she was reading it from a piece of paper for the very first time. 8/10.

Live And Let Die - Big Rog steps into the Bond shoes and it's really rather good. The main villains death is a bit stupid and the boat chase goes on waaayyyy too long (excellent stunts aside) but there are so many plus points..I'm mainly repeating @Redd here:laugh:

New Orleans Jazz Funeral
Samedi, Tee Hee & Whisper - superb henchmen and Geoffrey Holder has a laugh that'll blow your subwoofer
Geoffrey Holder himself - Excellent physical performance, even rests his hand on a cane in a cool way. And that final shot on the train is great.
The theme song - possibly the best one....possibly.
Bond's powder blue leisure suit - Dear Lord it's beautiful.
Jane Seymour as Solitaire - I was quite taken with Plenty O'Toole but a young Dr.Quinn Medicine Woman is making it an impossible choice.

Big mention though has to go to a certain Ross Kananga. Mr.Kananga is the owner of the crocodile farm where part of LALD was filmed and made such an impression that the main villain was named after him. Being very familiar with the crocs he was the guy who perfomed the famous croc leaping scene.....over ACTUAL CROCODILES:eek:

Yep - Not models of crocs but he stepped across the backs of some very lively and rather ill tempered crocodiles as no stuntman in their right mind would perform that stunt. Add to that it took 5 takes and one of those takes involve him getting his foot very nearly took clean off! It's made even madder by the fact that after the 2nd take the crocodiles clearly know what's coming and are bracing themselves for a bonus meal.

The 5 takes are at around 2:35 on this video but it's worth watching the whole thing for a bit of background on the guy....and Jane Seymour still scrubbing up very well many years later.

Oh, the pain, the mental and physical pain. Heart wrenching. Manchester by the sea, starring Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams. I watched it on Wednesday and am beginning to get back to normal now. Being a father likely makes a huge difference. I'm sure it's healthy to rid of a few mls of tears once in a while, though.

This was the trailer before the film mentioned above. Definitely next in line!

Perhaps we will do a “movie switch-around,” as Manchester by the Sea has been on the list for a while, now. I’ll be sure to grab some “weakness tissues” in case I need to pass some eye water (30 Rock reference) — I’ve heard elsewhere, too, that Manchester is heavy, indeed.

Currently have Blazing Saddles on, a favourite of mine. 10/10

Green Room - Struggling band take a gig at Neo-Nazi / White Supremacist clubhouse. End up trapped in there after inadvertently witnessing a murder and have to escape. Decent but I didn't think it was anything like as good as some of the reviews made out.

The latest Jack Reacher film, or to give its full title Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (and watch this film again). The most interesting part of this film was Cobie Smulders walking around in a black bra for about 4 seconds. Literally, it was an all down hill from there - Hollywood blah blah blah by numbers. 4/10.

The latest Jason Bourne film. I'm sorry, but exactly how many people were in charge of or responsible Treadstone? Money for old rope 3/10.

Miss Peregrine's School for extraordinary children. Quite enjoyed this 7/10

Hacksaw Ridge. Good film. Well recommended. 8/10

Totally with you on Jason Bourne. I enjoyed the first three but they went downhill from there.

Got given Miss Peregrine's as a valentine present. Really like the weirdness of it.

Currently watching the Alec Guinness version of "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" a great story with very strong actors, but with a pacing so sedate that it couldn't be made now. I'm loving it.
