I continue to be impressed with Al Jazeera. Excellent coverage of the protest movement in the USA. Some good documentaries and a real attempt to present different sides of each story. I watched a documentary on Kosovo which was equally balanced between the Serb and Albanian sides of the situation. Not something I remember seeing from the BBC, which is purely a NATO outlet in times of war, particularly obvious during the Balkan war.

The other thing I like about Al Jazeera is the wide international coverage. You get to see documentaries about parts of the world totally neglected by other media.

I am not saying that Al Jazeera is not biased in it's own way as most all media is. I have to agree that they at least attempt to air both sides of an issue and offer insights on parts of the world not normally covered by other media.

She rode her horse into a pole. to be honest not sure why the Met thought they had the authority to ride mounted police into demonstrators, or even thought it was a good tactic.

I believe it was what was attached to that pole/post that cleared her off backwards over the horse's rump. It could well be the horse was spooked and the rider lost control of the horse. If that is the case the horse really does not have the temperament for the crowd control work asked of it and the rider.

Have to admit that it has been a long time since I have seen horses used for crowd control. Armoured vehicles seem better suited as they generally don't spook and are not as vulnerable to injuries as horses are. So yes, I don't think deploying horses for crowd control is a good tactic in this day and age.

Unfortunately the rider may have to pay a heavy price for that policy of using horses for crowd control. Hope she is not too badly injured.

I agree that all lives matter - what I don’t get is that these same demonstrators seem to be either colour-blind or ambivalent when it comes to black on black murder in the U.K.
Crowd control using horses is a long accepted and effective tactic used by British police - you see it at football matches every week-end.

Well, there are plenty of voices to be heard against the waste of young lives. But how do you control drug crime within the community?

I think the present focus is deaths in police custody or at the hands of police. In theory that's something a government can have more control over.
