What was your first razor, shaving brush and shaving soap?

La Toja

I haven't used La Toja stick for ages, I believe they've stopped making tallow version.

My very first safety razor was the Wilkinson Bonded blade system which included a handle and easy loading carts. I used it from the age of 14 until i was about twenty years old. The blades became increasingly difficult to find locally and it was then that i switched to the Gillette Trac II. The Wilkinson was a great shave system; better imo than the Trac II, which also imo is still better than anything Gillette introduced later. The Wilkie system was one quality blade that lasted me a good 2 weeks of every other day shaves. I used that with Barbasol, Rise or Foamy canned goo.

Yes, they stopped making the tallow version a few years ago and replaced it with a series of vegetable versions that almost nobody likes.

This was my first.
After deciding to go for it i took a trip to Executive Shaving in Glasgow only to find out it was a warehouse with a sales part,
Couldn’t basically browse anything but i was determined i wanted the Feather but the rest was recommendations from them.
6-7 years later i still love it all.
I did use the Personna blades and didn’t like them and still not keen on them today.
I went straight in with a feather blade & found that to be fine.
It wasn’t until a few months after i realised that all blades were different.

Hmmmmm - I think it was the Merkur Futur - it looks cool; a Edwin Jagger Silver tip (very soft) and Bluebeard / Dreadnaught shaving cream and the second tub of shaving soap was Castle Forbes, Lime probably.

Their creams are superb and I'll be sad when my stash eventually runs out.

Agreed mate Uk creams seem to be up there with the best of them
