Greetings gentz,

This is probably already been done before, but i thought I'd post it anyway and go back to memory lane as it's just nice to see what everyone's first shaving kit was and if you can post a picture of it, my first shaving kit later in life (as i shaved with my dads Gillette slim twist razor and Palmolive shaving stick and a generic cheap brush i dont remember the brand and type in my teen years and for some reason switched to cartridge razors and chemical cans) so my first shaving kit i bought was a merkur 34C HD, a hjm synthetic shaving brush and Taylor of old bond street jermyn street shaving cream and a soup bowl i took from the kitchen and it was a splendid kit to work with I'll have to dig them up and post some pictures here later if i can, what was your first shaving kit im very curious to know, I'm looking forward to your story and some pictures if you can, I'll add some pictures later as well if i dig up the kit.

Sami,

The first razor for me belonged to my grandfather. It was a Schick Krona and I was near 14 years old. He had an old brush and some Williams Shave Soap. He also bought Barbasol or similar. Fast forward, I was able to find a Schick Krona around 2017 on eBay. It is still something that reminds me of him and well as the Aqua Velva that I use exclusively.

Gillette OLD type, still the best double edge razor ever made.
Cheap synthetic Omega.
I have no idea but Proraso red was one of the early ones.
Nothing beats the old shaving gear i cant argue there, they lasted for decades and still being used by generation after generation and for good reason, it just worked for everyone.

I’ve been doing this 8 years and having read this today I had zero idea what my first set up was, so I searched my posts on here to find out. I now know what my first razor was and I probably could have just saved thousands and stayed as I was.

I bought the Rockwell 6S followed by a Supply razor. Then my third razor was a Karve Christopher Bradley.

actually annoys me finding this out!

Bic Disposables
For some peculiar reason best known to BiC - their disposables never suited my face even though at the time they suited my pocket better - had to go to more expensive Gillette blue, they seemed to work with no problem but way more expensive. Always looked for them on offer.
A quick one on the BIC disposable - I remember seeing my father in law do a full face shave with these things dry - I’d never seen anyone dry shave up to that point.
These days I shave the double fluff mane that grows from my hairline down the back of my neck with a dry razor - usually keep back my face razor blade that I’ll have discarded that week specifically for sorting out my neck as a one shot deal.

The beautiful thing about the wetshaving community is when you have shaving products you don't need or want anymore you can always sell it to someone and it gets used again 👍

Or generously folks just give you something nice as with @chazt .

I’ve been able to pass along several straight razors, a brush or two, and 3-4 safety razors to help people set going. I’ve received about and much.
Yes indeed the wetshaving community is very generous i can testify to That and many with me, a beautiful community of gentlemen with character and integrity, a rare thing.
