Congratulations. I started with the metal Pro Guard, but have at it. Some start out on the sides and use a more familiar razor for the curves. You can also practice without the blade.

Just know, you are using a straight.

Congrats on the choice once more! If you have little or no experience, i suggest the ProGuard to reduce the chance to cut yourself.
Find and buy samples of Kai blades as well. I don't know where you're from, so i'll suggest tryablade.com or razorbladesclub.com . Do some practice without a blade, just to get the feel of how to hold the razor, like @Twelvefret suggested.
Important: start with an "expecting a bloodbath" mindset EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. So anything less then that will feel like success and you'll enjoy the results more. Seriously. It's what works for me.
Don't go for a 3 pass shave for the first time, or go only WTG as many passes you feel like. Good luck and even better shaves! :cheers:

So, my worse cut was with a DE Barbasol Floating Head.

My only traditional SR cut was sticking myself with a square edge.

No shavette cuts because every move is planned in advance…lol!!

Oh, keep them at hand, at least in the beginning, so you can finish with a DE if you need or want a thorough shave, since with the DX you probably won't get shaves quite by the standards you're accustomed to.

I have only tried the Feather AC blades. I can get the same end result using the Pro, Pro Guard & Soft Guard.

I prefer the Pro Guard out of the three you have, it's nicely in the middle and will give you a little bit of reassurance of protection should you go in a little hard or slip up on the angle.

The Pro is unforgiving, but a hell of a lot smoother than the guarded ones. The Soft Guard can be sometimes more difficult to glide through some growth with it having a lot of guard on it.

There probably will be smoother blades than the Feather Pro but I haven't tried any other brand of AC blade.

That's one really nice razor you have bought there & you have got some fun times ahead getting to know it!

Because in the beginning with the DX, you probably won't do ATG passes untill you get accustomed to it. So in case you need a better than socially acceptable shave, you should have a DE at hand. Of course, it depends on your beard and skin, it might happen you don't need it. Also, in case you get a cut, it would be best to stop shaving with the DX and finish with the DE so it doesn't get worse. And of course, there's always the possibility that you simply won't come to like shaving with a shavette. YMMV, as always.
