Focus R28 Slim-Al with a Gillette/Wilkinson Blade

My plans for a shave with a new (to me) razor went out the window. A particularly challenging shift resulted in me sleeping almost 4 hours longer than my norm so I decided to postpone.

2 passes and a touch up for just a tad off BBS....but still a face feeler! The Focus Slim-Al really is a great shaving tool!

Unininlions Japanese Style Razor with a Proline-P

One of my latest acquisitions from Aliexpress. Fit and Finish is perfect. Blade exposure with a Proline is similar to a Kai Captain and the shave passed the Alum test.
2 passes and a touch up for a perfect Sunday Shave:)

A very nice thread, lovely to see the many Shavettes. Can those who have tried both straight razor and shavette, recommend a shavette that shaves as smooth as a straight. Basically not a very crisp edge or blade feel but sharp yet blunt if that makes sense?? Or am I really considering blade type here.

What you describe is IMHO a straight razor feel that is produced by honing it with a coticule.

Maybe the Feather Proguard line could be similar to a straight razor ? This is by what I have read online so far .

Also achieved using a good strop IMO. Such as the Kanayama. I also only finish on a 12k Naniwa SS so less crisp compared to finishing on a higher grit perhaps.

ZY Shavette with an Antelope Super 77 Blade

A later shave as I am on night shift, and it gave me a chance to use my new arrival from Aliexpress. The Super77 blades are longer and narrower than a standard DE and when 1 edge is past its best the blade can be reversed to use the fresh one. Certainly not as sharp as a feather....but definitely fit for purpose with no nasty sharp corners to ruin the day!
3 passes for a lovely smooth finish:)
The only one of these razors I can find available use the regular de blades.

The 77 type blades are not as sharp as a Feather and have a length of 62mm. For me the 77 type razors are the closest to a 'real straight'. Forgiving but capable of a great finish
