What is your favorite BRUSH Hair or Fibre?

Love all my brushes.

But for me, my wald brushes build lather and release/perform the best. Don't know if it's to do with the hardness of the water or just my preference but just wow.

I use synthetic, badger and boar brushes as they all do the job. Horsehair brushes, I detest. If I had to pick one, it would be a 2band silvertip badger which is pure luxury to me.

I might add a few 2 band silvertip into my den, what loft height do you recommend for a 24mm knot?

I'm no authority anymore to be honest haven't bought a brush in many years. The older Paladins and Shavemac 2 bands are all I need. I would suggest in those a 26mm x 50mm or 48mm

I am 100% in the Badger silvertip camp.
Try as I might I just can't get the same properties I am after from a Boar.
Not for lack of trying either. Started off with Badger years ago and it was quite some time till I tried a Boar. When I did, I could not believe how prickly/scritchy it was. Granted it could have been the knot. It was quickly abandoned.
In an effort to try once more and give it a fair shake I purchased an Omega 48 as it was favored by many, more so than pretty much any other.
I gave it the break in of a lifetime followed by many, many latherings in which it has split very well - many if not all hairs 3-4 times.
It simply (for me) cannot hold either water/lather or heat in near the same capacity as a smaller Badger.
It's not that I need more brushes, I certainly don't. I am of the type that If I don't give something an honest try I may be cheating myself would have no business giving an opinion on such a thing.

The scrubby, scritchy is what I love, can't stand a soft, mushy paint brush for shaving. To each their own.

There's nothing wrong with badger and synthetic brushes, because, most boar brushes are too scratchy, when some wet shaves aren't patient enough to wait until the boar hair is fully broken in.

I can see that some would enjoy that.
Fact is, the one I have I actually like the feel of it on the face when bone dry. It very different wet. It just doesn't hold water/lather or heat very well.
Its a huge knot too! Omega 48's are 27 mm knots.
I've wondered about Semogue's premium boars as they are touted as a softer/finer Boar hair. The Omega does not seem to be very well graded.
I've gone over mine on 3 separate occasions to cull rogue hairs. Many were upside down - root up! After that it felt much better on the face especially dry. I just wanted to give Boar a fair shake and Omega 48 was probably the most recommended Boar there is with some calling it floppy. Floppy this thing is not!!!!
