What are your top three De safety razors?

Hi guys,

I use very mild razors as Henson AL13, Blackland Blackbird Lite and Tatara Masamune

What could be other alternatives as a very mild razor ?

Thanks for help !
In no particular order some of my favourites are the Gillette Tech, Feather AS-D2, Karve B plate and Timeless .68.

It's hard to pick just three. Of the ones I have:

1) Parker Variant (both SB and OC). By extension, I assume Merkur Progress will be just as good as Variant uses the same head design.

2) Gillette Flare Tip superspeed. I have two (1956 and 1967) and they are both mild and efficient. A pleasure to use. In the same place I'd put Maggard V3A, it's efficient and forgiving.

3) Short handled Black Beauty (Gillette Super 84 Adjustable). Versatile, efficient, beautiful, classic.

Tatara Masamune (SS)

Being fairly new to DE shaving, after buying this razor, it works so good for me that I haven't bothered looking further. My vintage Gillette Super Adjustable 109 is pretty good, and fun to own, but I never use it now. My only other razor is sloppy junk in comparison.

Unless he amended it later, the OP said no vintage razors - only current production. From memory, I only have 3 in current production (the rest being vintage/no longer produced). They are, in order of preference: Merkur 37c, Lord L6, EJ DE89.

More than a year later since I posted in this topic... things have changed quite a bit. I have a renewed love for the milder razors. Currently my top three:

Karve Christopher Bradley with SB-C and OC-B plates
Tatara Masamune with SB and OC plates
Razorock Game Changer .68 with SB and OC plates

I know it is cheating a bit, but both SB and OC plates perform wonderfully in these razors.

Have you tried any vintage Gillettes, especially Flare tip Superspeeds or post-war Techs ? They are probably the golden standard of mild yet efficient razors. Also, it's a special feeling when you're shaving with a razor that was already in use when your dad was young...

Agreed. As you, since I last posted in September ‘23, my list has changed. I just double checked, I’ve seven current production DE razors. My current top three are a RRGC.76 sitting atop a Timeless Ti Crown handle, an Edwin Jagger orange 3ONE6 and an ikon B1 open comb on a Weber Wave handle.
