He lives around here and plays in local bands and jam sessions) one night at an open mic. after our set, "I'd like to jam with you some time. I think you could really teach me some stuff." Charlie's reply was, "I don't know what."
It's not that this guy isn't good, but what he's playing in that video isn't that impressive. It's open tuning box pattern.

I just had to lookup what type of guitar that was. It did not look like any dobro guitar I had ever seen in my limited exposure to this type of music. Seems it is a Regal RC-51 metal body tricone resophonic guitar.

I agree. I was never really a Skynard fan. I have to be careful saying that in the south. I might get burned at the stake. My sister in law amd a buddy of mine went to school with them and around North Fl. they are right up there with the baby Jesus.
