I know the comment you're referring to and it was not meant in any way to be discriminatory.
The forum welcomes members of any gender, however as it has been observed we're just unlikely to attract many female members.

I find that having some discussion about pleasent distractions help me not to think so much about the gloabal situation...LOL!!
I figured you were a fountain pen user.
One of my motivations for encouraging people to use these old razor blade holders is because of the money they might save and the amount of plastic junk that cannot be recycled out of land fills.

It only eliminates a certain amount of plastic junk using an older metal razor, but all them tubs of soap ? I suppose they can be recycled unlike a disposable razor, but I would personally like to see more pucks wrapped in paper and in a cardboard box. This would eliminate some CO2 produced in making the tubs in the first place and then the CO2 in energy to recycle. I’ve a few rather nice ceramic tubs I can use. Saving money ? Mmmmm I started for that reason LOL ! Didn’t work, just found a big hole.

Like I said, there is a female with a wonderful pipe collection on my pipe forum who is welcomed and appreciated, but I guess a female pipe smoker is anomaly. And, I am surrounded with girls and women family members, plus co-workers back in the day. Having a male only anything preference is not really my concern.

So, my interest has always been old razor blade holders and straight razors and never soaps and brushes. I got tired of cheap BIC disposables and tried to find a DE. It occured to me one day that maybe I could find my first razor, a Schick Krona, which belonged to my grandfather. I did, and that set me on the path.

The old ones were so well made. I have a few older than me and they polish up as good as new. Alas that isn’t the way of the world always now. Nothing from my father or grandfather was left, my father used an electric. I have a distant memory of my grandfather shaving with a straight, many, many years ago. A lot of these things are binned when someone passes as people see them as having no value. I was gifted a Couple of razors from my USA friend who’s uncle had passed away. One a Fat Boy as good as new, never used in the box, and a lightly used slim. She only knew that they would be of interest as we had spoke about old razors. Luckily for me that is.
