Waiting on a puppy

The home without a dog in it is intolerable to me. I see dog ads on TV and feel a hurt inside. Today would have been my Sandy's 14th birthday. She's been gone twelve weeks yesterday, and I sometimes still cannot believe it.
I've been making inquiries to breeders for the bloodlines I'm looking for. I'm expecting a call today from a gentleman in Kentucky who has frozen straws from a littermate of one of the best known Belmor dogs. I like the Belmor lines, and my Holly had lots of Belmor in her.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature has a hand in this, and works on her schedule ... Not mine!

I'll never forget any of the pup's predecessors, but hopefully, there will be another BlacknTan here by the New Year. It seems too long to wait without a dog to shower attention on, but there it is ..

Just got a Cavalier King Charles puppy myself @BlacknTan and its 16 weeks old now and he just gives the whole house a lift! I have a lot of mobility issues so he is the right dog for me. Helps me to get up off my Ass and move lol.
Only half a year ago I wouldn't have really understood where you are coming from - but now I do. There is a gap for you right now and there are bound to be times when you will miss Sandy a lot but that new puppy will arrive and the adventure of a new friendship and many more years of companionship and shared experiences await.
I will be keen to know how things go

I grew up with dogs mainly boxers and went without a dog once married for 27 years. After refusing to have one when the kids were young I finally gave in when I thought my 20 yr old son was adult enough to keep his promise to walk a dog and look after a dog properly. How wrong I was. Even though he was twenty he is still only 10 in the head so after 3 weeks flavour of the moth Flo our rescue Dalmatian was just abandoned to the care of me and the wife. Worse for us is that now he has a girlfriend he only wants to spend time with her and is now flatly refusing to take the time off work to look after the dog while we go on our holidays so sadly she will have to be kenneled something she hates as all dogs do. I love dogs, I truly do but they just tie you down too much and Flo will be our 1st and only dog.

Ours have never been kenneled, we have had friends, family and usually my mum house sit.

Started off with the Jack Russel / Beagle cross. We are his third home and he spent time at the Dogs Trust between owners. Now us being soft think if we put him in a kennel he may get the idea, "here we are again, all change". The Springer I'm sure really doesn't care as long as he gets food and a cuddle. Spoilt both of them !

The first couple of times we put our Meg into kennels she came back a nervous wreck as they were absolutely terrible kennels with employees who had no idea how to handle a nervous dog. A strange thing as many dogs are naturally going to be nervous going into a kennel. We only found out afterwards of course. Lucky for us, and her, we've found a fantastic small kennel a few miles away and she comes out of there groomed, happy and straight back into the swing of things.

I grown up sorrounded with hunting dogs. My grendpa have only two breeds both english: English setter and English pointer. But thosedogs needsa time and care for which I just do not have a time. I hope for couple of yearsthat I can have my couple companniobs in hount.

Oh I can so relate to where you're coming from.

My best friend ever was my Golden retriever. I had him as a puppy and he passed aged sixteen. I cried like a baby for weeks after losing him. I don't own a dog now and the place just isn't the same Mind you, I don't miss the hairs shedding everywhere but if you love em you cope!

I do enjoy caring for my family members dogs whilst they holiday abroad. I'm currently looking after my brothers dog.

Meet Poppy: She's a Tibetan Terrier, quite a charmer and she follows me everywhere.

Today we've enjoyed a pub lunch and a nice long walk on Southampton Common.

Although I have 6 cats, about 5 months ago I was at the vet for something cat related and as I'm friends with the doctor, I went into where he keeps the cages and there was a tiny 2 month old tea-cup Yorkie with heart problems that the owners wanted to return to the pet shop and needed a medical evaluation. She looked very distressed, so I took her out of the cage and showed her some love and she started licking me like she knew me from before. Needless to say, I fell in love with her on the spot. Luckily I was there when the pet shop owner came to pick her up to do whatever with her and that is anyone's guess. After a lot of persuasion from the doctor and myself, I managed to buy her. It's the best thing I ever did in my life. (Apart from getting the Rockwell 6S). The heart problem has fixed itself and now everyone loves this little bundle of energy to death. Even my ageing parents call me every day to ask what time I'm taking her to them. She gets along with the cats and they respect her. Only they try to steal her food.
I take her everywhere I go and I can not see myself without her. Even my mother who after the death of her King Charles spaniel ten years ago, promised to herself no more dogs as she was so fond of the spaniel, now says she loves this one even more.

We're expecting a foster dog from Romania this week. She's 6 years old and has never known love and is terribly afraid. I expect her to take a year to come into her own. I will be there for her the entire time. My heart is joyful for you @BlacknTan; dogs are God's one gift to humans.
