Vacation in England

Great thread this is. It has me wanting to return again for a visit myself. Just about anywhere you turn you will find interesting history attached to the place. There is something for all interests. Were treated very well there. If you happen to be in an area that has an airshow, like the one we attended at Biggin Hill, I am sure a kid would love the sites and sounds of vintage war planes performing. Enjoy your trip.

I haven't seen that much of England, and I may be a bit partial, but Saint Davids, the Preseli Hills and the Gwaun Valley in Wales are some of the most beautiful places God has created on earth.

A quick update.

We are arriving to Heatrow june 26 and going to stay in UK for 11 days. Not much is decided yet, but we probably going to Alton Towers for two days and then heading to Bath or Wales or some places in that direction. The last three days is going to be spent in London.

We are sorting out all the great ideas we have got in this thread.

Your itinerary looks like it is coming on very nicely and I strongly suggest you visit both Bath and Wales. You will not be disappointed.

Gentlemen!

Here's our itinerary for this vacation.

June 26: Arriving London Heathrow early evening, pick up the rental car and drive to Milton Keynes.
June 27: Drive to Oakamoor and try to find something to do or see a long the way
June 28: Alton Towers Theme Park
June 29: Drive to Tenby, Wales, with some sort of activity along the way
June 30: Tenby
July 1: Tenby
July 2: Drive to London with something fun along the way. Return the car at Heathrow.
July 3: London
July 4: London
July 5: London
July 6: Back home to Sweden

What do you think? Any good ideas what to do on the "days in the car" and in Tenby?
Unfortunately our youngest son (soon 6) broke his elbow three weeks ago and had to undergo surgery, so he can't do everything he (or we) want.

Again, many thanks for all the great advice from you guys!

When in Tenby avoid Laver Bread like the plague...
When in the car avoid pedestrians...
When in London ask for your beer to be poured Yorkshire/Northern style.
When on the plane home weep as you come to the heartbreaking realisation you came to England and didn't visit Yorkshire.
Well, as a Leeds United fan I wanted to visit Leeds, but the rest of the family said NO! and END OF DISCUSSION! :surrender:

What's the thinking behind the night in Milton Keynes? Never been there so I know very little about it but I am curious why you're staying there.

No thinking at all:happy: Just a place to sleep. We don't know what time we start "rolling" and we don't want a long drive in the first evening.
