To be honest Darron, the easy going nature of this forum means it pretty much looks after itself. We had a few teething issues until we found our feet, but now, we have very few "issues" to sort out. You guys, make it what it is...

Randy is correct. But I'm over that now. I like it here much better. People actually talk with one another instead of at one another. I have absolutely no desire to go back there.

Since there may be lot of "Top 5 blades" threads we can have a "Top 5 of the Top 5 blades threads"? :D

I can understand the "Top 5 soaps" threads, if they are based on the scent in a particular season.
The guy who will make a soap that lathers the same in every corner of the world will become rich.
But the scent, no matter how objective you can be, you can not have a soap like Tabac as your favourite with 40 Celsius degrees outside!
Well, at least I couldn't...

I enjoy recording shave videos, when I have the time. I have to admit that none of my videos are edited or have fancy intros etc, so completely amateur. Some are filmed so that I remember a particular occasion (e.g. honeymoon) others are filmed to prove a shaving related point. I used to watch a fair amount of shave videos but now do find them tedious. It becomes slightly boring when you hear the same stuff over and over again, or even more annoying when someone is shaving of a few strands of micro stubble. Let's face it it's a simple task so need not become shaving 101.

Just came across the thread and I'll have to read all of them and see if I have any new unpopular opinions ... For now I will share that

the real benefit of wetshaving is the guaranteed 30minutes of uninterrupted "me" time, and everything else is just noise meant to distract those who would otherwise question my true motive ...

Not so unpopular.
I didn't start traditional shaving for this reason, but sooner or later I realized that this was my no "daddy" hour.

Yes. If one wants a nice patina and not grotty it does take 2-3 minutes after the shave. I follow Chris Kirchen’s advice at Karve. Warm water rinse and towel dry all around.

Is it worth it...it is for me. That golden brown glow early on a cold morning is softer on the eyes than sparkling stainless.

Bingo!

Brass is brown, patina on brass is green. Wash brass with soap and water, no chemicals or abrasives.
