Thanks for pointing it out and I will be watching too. Living in a former British colony I am aware of some of the warts done here and some other places as well. I am sure there is more to the story to discover.

A well researched and fascinating documentary which includes the story of indigenous Canadians fighting in WW1 on the Western Front in Europe and the slave trade in India, of a particular underclass of Indian people, to populate British colonies around the globe after the African slave trade was abolished in 1830s.

That is only the tip of the iceberg as far as how indigenous Canadians were treated here while Canada was a colony and after we became an independent country. Another great shame was perpetrated on indigenous Canadians with the introduction of the residential school system the effects of which we are still dealing with today. I am sure indigenous peoples of all colonies suffered greatly also.

The story of Tommy Prince well illustrates what happened to many indigenous Canadian war veterans.

Unfortunately, I gave up trying to watch the series as the sites I went to were all littered with too frequent annoying commercials to make it an enjoyable watch.

One last post to this topic. The reaction to the many bad things done to indigenous Canadians has been in many cases to erase the names and statues of the wrong doers. I am not comfortable with this seeming attempt to erase history. I think it would have been better to leave the names and statues in place with additional information added to point out these terrible wrong doings committed by these men so others may learn history.

Just finished ‘Down Cemetery Road’ with Dame Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson. Mad, unpredictable, occasionally goofy but packed with action. Twist and turns a-plenty. Quite enjoyed it.

Currently watching ‘Maigret’ or Margaret as my Granny Fraser used to call it. Nobody ever dared to correct her.

i got access to a stream service and started watching Farscape... a fave that the dvds i had went away during my problems a moon ago... a fun sci-fi(syfy) show that came out just before y2k...
