Anyone seen A very English scandal with Hugh Grant et al? It starts on our BBC equivalent tonight.
Yes, when it was aired earlier in the year, and it’s worth watching! Better than the majority of prime time television on currently.

No Offence on Channel 4. Excellent thriller with a leavening of humour.

Fortitude - Series 1. Baffling but compelling.

The True Story of Harry Quebert. Mostly good but a bit rambling at times.

Gave up on Strangers due to the log-like acting.

Very good series indeed, a very accurate historical account of the times and events, Hugh Grant was excellent.

Well I seem to have got into a Korean TV 'rut' at the moment. I started with Stranger purely because of Bae Doo-Na and have pretty much been totally sucked in ever since. Subtitles can be a pain and idiosyncratic in their translations and Korean culture is quite different to ours but...
Warning I quite like a good comedy romance.
So far I've watched Black: which I got into on the second attempt - ghosts, grim reapers, intrigue, romance, murder mystery. Bit of a cheesy ending but I really didn't care by the time it came up.
A Korean Odyssey: A modern take on the Journey to the West set in present day Korea it keeps the slightly over the top comedy of Monkey whilst adding a good dose of Korean romance. Again took a little warming up to properly hook me but thoroughly enjoyed it.
Oh My Ghostess: Romantic comedy with cooking, ghosts and a murder mystery thrown in; the female leads are excellent.
Strong Girl Bong-Soon: Not managed to get into this one really I've watched a few episodes in between other stuff, I might try again.
Secret Garden: Romantic body switching comedy. Some good fun to be had when the leads switch, and a fairly solid comedy romance otherwise. I nearly gave up on it because I just wanted to hit the chap in the chops for being such a TWAT! or for her to do it but fortunately it was the peak twat moment. Worth it for the lovely Ha Ji Won.
And last but not least I'm part way through Goblin (Guardian:The Lonely and Great God): A cut above in terms of writing and production values and it sucked me in from the get go - pathos and gentle humour in spades. My twelve year old sat and watched an episode with me the other night in that strange youngest daughter in bed eldest one's getting ready fuzzy hour. We laughed, we got choked up and rooted for the good guys both of us totally lost in it. She was late to bed and I had to promise she could watch it all someday.

I was certain I had posted to this effect earlier but turns out I haven’t. Thus: Babylon Berlin. Watch it if it’s available to you (it’s on US netflix, not sure about Uk). Fabulous German series situated in real historical events in the last years of the Weimar republic from 1929 onward. Choreography, music, ambience, acting, story, all very enjoyable. Knowing what would happen obviously has an effect as well.

Yes, it's good. The 1st season (first eight episodes) is rather slow though, the 2nd is much better.

Homecoming
Interesting idea, filmed in a 60s-70s plot/conspiracy manner, but becomes boring quite fast.

Great!

Press
Really good, tells a lot about tabloids and British press

I'm dying up here seasons 1 and 2
Average good if interested in American pop culture and stand up comedy

Kidding
Strange, funny and somewhat fascinating, Michel Gondry at his best

Dark Heart
Average good, so so...

House of Cards season 6
I found it rather bad, the fist half is like a soap opera, the second one is poor attempt to end the series in an apocalyptic Greek tragedy.

Startup season 3
Good, but not as good as the two previous seasons

Stan Lee's Lucky Man season 4
It's OK

The Hounting of Hill House
It's supposed to be very good, I found it average

American Horror Story season 8
I think it's the best season so far, lots of humour and less scary horror

Just started watching Luther... Absolutely fantastic. Idris Elba is awesome as Luther. Can't believe it's taken me this long to discover it!
Just finished series 4. This last series of only 2 episodes, felt kind of rushed. It was a decent story, but not up to the standard of the previous series...

Deutschland 86... I was very naughty and downloaded it from t'internet, good but not as gripping as the first series (Deutschland 83.) I gather they were seeking to portray the communist regime in a far less flattering light which sometimes bordered on romanticism in the first series. This is far more neutral displaying dodgy deals to keep cashing flowing into the bankrupt state, the terrifying experience of families trying to secretly cross the border and the distressing aftermath when it does not go to plan but also the flip side, good people, utopians perhaps, struggling to come to terms with the fact their interpretation of Communism has failed.

Worth a watch when it airs over here, which is January I think.
