Time for a change

I did not have an issue with glue on the Green Astra blades. The Tatra blade being double wrapped had no glue so that was a plus. I actually liked the shave from the blade, smooth and efficient. I did like the Astra a little better. Hopefully today I will try the Sharp 7 AM based on the sample pack sellers suggestions. Details to follow.

I realise this is ultra-nerdy, but when I first started wet-shaving I found this to be a useful way of keeping tabs on every blade I tried. Anything marked in green is a blade I would gladly buy again. You do have to give every blade a couple of goes with various razors, soaps and creams in order to properly find your favourites. I am surprised at your findings with BIC Chrome Platinum.

I have used them exclusively for a couple of months this year and found them very very slightly rough and mid-to-high sharpness first shave, but then they improve dramatically second shave onwards to be quite smooth + very sharp for a further 3 to 4 shaves after that. Equal to Feather sharp 2nd shave and onwards.

I find them the complete opposite of the Feather blade, which is super sharp and smooth first shave, then drops off rapidly second shave onwards

Yes, I was very surprised myself, as everything I'd read prior to using the BIC CP led me to believe they are super sharp and quite smooth. I have tried a couple of blades from my tuck and got the same disappointing results both times. Maybe I have a defective batch? Or it could just be a classic case of YMMV

The ones I had were so bad I threw them away, the only blades I have ever just discarded, but folks here on the forum say they are better now. I'll never know because I'll never get them again, too many good blades to have instead.

Have saved this, thanks. Will compare with my own experiences, so far I have Astra SP out ahead of the pack.

Like @TobyC, I’ll nae buy BIC again. They might be much better nowadays but nowt will top a German Wilkie for me. Super sharp, super smooth and they go on almost indefinitely.
I no longer count shaves with them but ten easy before changing. Never used a blade quite like ‘em in 14 years of mucking about with DEs. Different strokes for different folks though.
