I'm a fan of the Original Outlaw, The Claymore Evolution, the Outlaw Evolution Ti and the Spirit. To me The Spirit is a 10 on 10 design. All these Razors do cost a bit and that is justified by their design, performance and finish.

I think for a change and thanks to the collab with John (Stubble Meets Steel), Steve has gone out of his way to create a Razor with two base plates and a stand that is affordable for everyone. To me, The Guido is a real steal and carries with it the same high standards of every Razor that leaves the Alpha Shaving stable. If @Str8Mug who is one of the most loved, helpful and respected members across forums says it rocks, then I know it does for sure. Can't wait to give mine a spin when it gets here.

Hats off to Steve and to John, love these two blokes for what they contribute to our wet shaving community.
Too kind amigo but, thank you for the kind words. About being well loved across the forums, I might say that’s stretching it a bit especially over at the B&B as there are a couple of Admins there that hate my guts. Nothing I can do about that. However, your statement concerning Alpha and how they go about their business in creating quality products at very competitive prices with The Guido being the deal of 2025 is right on the money. I have nothing but, respect and good things to say about Alpha Shaving in my dealings with Steve. He has been a true gentleman and backs his products 1000% no questions asked.

I give credit where credit is due and Alpha Shaving has earned my business and loyalty for his exemplary products & customer service.

Good luck and happy shaves amigo…

A fine shave with The Guido this morning and 2 days growth really had no chance against this razor. A full 3 pass shave though, I honestly could have stopped at 2 with a buff but, the Mike’s Lime soap has such a nice scent with excellent protection that I just wanted to use it up and just extend the shave ritual just a bit more. I was rewarded with a marvelous BBS finish from sideburns to neck. The weight of the razor with it’s slightly positive blade feel (though the website declares it neutral, I do get a nice feel) does all the work with just a light touch. Zero pressure from the user and just a controlled drop from top to bottom and whiskers are removed effortlessly WTG. ATG one uses the same technique just guiding it upwards or side to side depending on an individuals hair growth’s pattern. It was nearly a perfect shave minus just the slightest of heat near the corners of the mustache and just a tinge also at the bend of my chin. Did a couple quick strokes without placing a bit of lather and I sparked a bit of irritation in those spots. On me completely and I knew better but, I thought I could get away with it. Word of advice for those still waiting on their razor, make sure you have some protection on the skin regardless of pass or touch-ups as The Guido will bring the heat if you try to continue without a bit of lubrication. That’s the 2nd time I’ve done that, stupid me. Irritation though subsided quickly within 15-20 minutes and the face & neck felt superbly smooth and supple to the touch. I’ve been face rubbing all morning with a nice poop eating grin to go with it. Heck of a shave.

All my shaves thus far have been with the OC plate. For the next couple of shaves I’ll swap out the OC plate and go with the SB variant just to get familiar with it and see how it goes about its business in slicing up whiskers.

Excellent review :okay: I've used the razor once and I think it's exceptional, is a bargain for the price. I really like the Alpha's geometry.

A paste & copy from a write on my shave this morning from another forum...

A very satisfying and extremely smooth shave this morning with The Guido & safety bar variant base plate. I'm in total agreement with a shave brother in the previous post in that the sb is a totally smooth & nearly carefree shaver of it's oc counterpart. 3 excellent passes with no touch-ups or buffing of any kind. Blade feel is very minimal and ease of feel on skin is a couple notches above the oc which is to be expected. It's a true daily shaver performer that doesn't feel anywhere like the comparison between the R41, Lupo .95 in comparing it to The Guido and the open comb shave characteristics. However, the result in finish and end result is very close. I found that The Guido & sb plate is an exceptionally smooth shaver with a neutral shave angle providing excellent feedback in cutting ability with minimal blade feel. I've been leaning more & more towards the smooth, comfortable with minimal blade feel category as of late while still looking for a good compromise in shave performance efficiency a la Ti Diamondback/Copper respectively. The Guido gave me a similar shave experience & result compared to those two, maybe just a touch behind in overall shave feel but, surprisingly close.

Big winner here in The Guido....

I see, thanks for the update, I don't really follow the news. The US was the only major economy, that still had a personal allowance, De Minimis, in place. I believe most countries agreed to drop their own De Minimis values to nought at the last Postal Union meeting.
In effect this has made some transactions tax/VAT free as the UK gov is assuming every overseas vendor is charging VAT on shipments under £135 GBP.
UK government, arguably quite logically, followed the 80/20 rule on this as combined with Brexit, the situation for inbound packages would have been chaos to say the least. 20% of vendors in absolute terms were responsible for 80% of imports and government leaned on those parties to add VAT and duty at source; particularly if they had any form of legal establishment in the UK. Major UK retailers e.g. Sainsbury's, are already lobbying government to end this little loophole

Brazil fairly recently as a result of a change in government, not UPU, completely canned the USD20 de minimis limit which applied there. Now everything arriving through B2C or C2C shipments is taxed at a flat rate 50% on entry. We should consider ourselves lucky in comparison

One of the best shaves if not The Best shave with The Guido & a Feather installed. The SB guard variant just tames the Feather to near perfection. Minimal blade feel but, very effective on the whiskers and no harsh feeling of the slightest from the venerable Feather blade. Just a stellar combination these two. Efficiency, comfort & smoothness with this pairing is a dream and hangs with the best of them in the mild yet efficient division.

I’m going to keep this relatively short and sweet, the Guido is an excellent razor and great value. It for me hits a perfect mid point, not too mild or aggressive it’s right in that Goldilocks mid zone for me. The weight is slightly head heavy which I prefer, the handles knurling is one of the best I’ve used on any razor, the finish is excellent.
It also hits a first for me as on my first 3 shaves I actually preferred the open comb, it was a tad more efficient and yet felt perfectly safe and smooth. It’s an absolute keeper and great daily driver!
A final heads up and thanks to Steve, @AlphaShaving his customer service and communication is second to none. I’ve bought new razors from a variety of vendors and none go to the level of detail he shares, with regular email updates or communication one to one or via forums! Also he keeps his prices more than reasonable in a world of ever increasing prices!
