Got my first kamisori yesterday - a little 50mm tamahagane one (don't know the maker). The guy I got it from said it took a good edge, though I wasn't expecting just how good, especially given I've never touched a kamisori before. I know my way round a yanagiba, and am pretty handy with hamaguri sharpening, so was hoping it'd be ok. But it really is blindingly excellent

Wasn't sure what I was going to do with the somewhat worn and wavy omote. But having enlisted Steve for some expert advice, and then seen just how good the edge is, I'm going to leave it for the moment I think. It's kinda funky!
I used both of these stones, but actually went back to the FTOS after the Asagi - I'm loving that stone and the edge on this razor was just excellent off it. Shaves like a dream, plus the finish on the soft steel (iron?) was nicer than from the jnat.
(What looks like it might be delam there I don't think is... at least I can't feel it.)
