I know it’s an homage to the Merkur, but to my eye the RR GOAT is also reminiscent of the EJ 3ONE6 which I’m quite partial to and use regularly in rotation. It’s not mild, but very smooth and efficient. Wondering, would you say the GOAT is a smooth shaver? If so, I might be tempted, but do I really need another razor? Well, yeah, probably. They’re kind of like guitars and potato chips/crisps, aren’t they? There’s always room for one more.
I currently have two DE razors in particular that nick the same spot on my chin nearly every time I use them. Both are open combs, a NEW and an iKon DLC short comb. It doesn’t matter which blade I choose, a little itty bitty red spot is likely to appear. As you, I tend to use the same technique with all my DE razors. With these I can’t. Clearly in my case it’s all about technique. I have to consciously pull back against gravity. The NEW was a gift from a friend so I keep it for sentimental reasons, but the iKon is certainly expendable. I should add it to my box of shave goods to move on.
I’ll be interested in your thoughts re: the GOAT as you become more familiar with it.
