Shave of the Day - Thursday October 10th, 2024

• Soap: Geo F Trumper - Almond Shaving Soap
• Brush: Semogue Owners Club 2-Band Finest Badger 24mm
• Razor: Rockwell Razors 6C
• Blade: King C Gillette 3x
• Aftershave: Geo F Trumper - Spanish Leather Skin Food

The soap smells absolutely awesome! Just don't expect to smell almond. Cause it ain't happening.
They should have called it delicious flower soap, or something.

The lather...
Man o man. It appears very quick, but it also disappears very quick.
Luckey it leaves behind a very slippery layer on the skin, which makes your shave still enjoyable.

Any tips for creating a good lasting lather with this soap?

Trumper soaps, (with a few exceptions) are useless since reformulation a few years ago.
You could try a drop or two of glycerine, but I don't think it'll improve latherability.

My Shave today consisted of...
Prep 3P Pre shavecream.
Brush Goodfellas Smile Wild hog.
Soap Midnight soiree halloween 2024.
Razor Alpha Shaving Texas flag.
Blade Nacet (1)
Aftershave Midnight soiree splash.

The Midnight Soiree lathered very easily and has and amazing scent, the wife loves it so happy days.

I won't lie I was not expecting much with the razor and was only brought because the wife has a thing for blue and red.
It did whoever perform really well and gave me a great shave, I did throw it over my head for the headshave test and yes it gave me a nice shave but did catch me in a couple of spots around the back.
That's not bad for a first outing and I would imagine it getting better in the next few shaves.
One happy bunny now so enjoy your night all.

If you haven't tied any, all Trumpers creams perform very well - better than TOBS, imo.

Hot shower prep with Axe 3 in 1 wash

A power outage delayed my shower and shave until evening.

The Van der Hagen soap and brush combo worked up a decent lather. The first pass was dragging so I put in a fresh blade before I did my chin. It was still dragging so I switched to a Van der Hagen blade. That cured the problem and the second pass occurred without incident. The Canoe made for a nice finish and the Bod man sealed the deal.

Yeah, I think I've had them all.
I love all the creams of the Big Four though; Geo F Trumper, Taylor of Old Bond Street, Truefitt & Hill and D.R. Harris

I boiled the kettle for todays shave, much nicer on the face, although i have to say my skin seems to really like cold water shaving.
Its always feels like a privilege to shave with the Athena, today paired with one of my favourite scents and soaps i was in heaven.
A couple of updates :-
1. New boiler to be fitted next week,
and the more intriguing
2. An email arrived from Blackland "ATT" today with news of a new razor, no more details but they do seem to be well on the way with development.

Heads up, this is purely a tease to get you excited and there aren't any actual details here. It's basically a shameless sales tactic. I won't be offended if you skip this one.

The first Above the Tie razor is in full production here at HQ and the brand will be relaunched this year! Since I can't tell you exactly what the first razor is, I'll talk a bit about the recent developments with ATT and where things stand. We acquired ATT a year ago and I thought we'd have it up and running in Q1 of 2024. I thought it would be pretty simple.

But as we dug into the project, we realized that we wanted to go deeper with the brand than expected. It deserved a full top-to-bottom fresh. New branding, fresh website, product enhancements, etc. And then we acquired a machine shop which changed everything. With the power to produce parts however we want, we decided that rather than copy/paste the original designs, we've gone back to the drawing board to update, modernize, and improve them. It's been slow, but it's 100% the right way to ensure an unbelievable product.

The first refreshed ATT razor is coming this year in stainless steel and, for the first time ever, there will be a titanium Above the Tie razor. Tyler and I have put a lot of love, effort, time, and money into this brand and razor and we're excited to share it with you in a few short weeks.
