A couple of firsts for today's shave.
The first go around with the Streamline or using any vintage SE.
And the first time trying this new bowl.
It took a minute to get used to the larger diameter vs the Arran stone but when I did, it turned out to be a lather machine.
The Arran stone is a great internal size for keeping lather contained in one small area, but it does limit the volume a little and the geometry of the sides leads to the Lather easily going over the edge, making it a challenge to keep a hold of at times, especially with especially slick soaps.
Not only is the CC copper a larger internal diameter as well as being deeper but the geometry of the sides keeps the lather in the bowl and the indented rings at the bottom work wonders for agitation while still being gentle on the bristles.
So much so that I ended up with more lather than I needed so I'll need to dial down my loading time in future.
I honestly don't see the need for any other bowl after this one, it's perfect for my needs.
Ticks every box and looks damn good doing it.
Right, so the most important part.
The razor I found to be very mild, exceptionally smooth with no discernible blade feel but oh boy does it have feedback.
Reports of a loud toast scraping sound were not wrong.
It took a few seconds to get the correct angle down but once I did, it soon felt like second nature.
riding the cap on these really does help to dial that in quickly and maintain it and the solid heft of the razor as well as the excellent balance made zero pressure passes a breeze.
Especially paired with the Glycerin pre shave and Noble Otter incredible cushion and glide.
The AccuTec pro blades are themselves smooth and comfortable, but very noticeably less keen than the Feather DE blades that I'm occustomed to.
So much so that by the end of the second pass I was a little worried that I might not get my usual results, but that worry was unfounded as the third pass was effortless and left nothing behind to speak of.
I had two small weepers on my neck during the first pass which had calmed by the second, but I'm chalking that up to my inexperience with proper angle rather than the razor or blade itself.
I finished off with Neon sun splash for that great instant sooth and heady sherbet scent.
All together an exceptional and very enjoyable first shave with this razor which seems to more than live up to the reputation and I look forward to more.
Hope you all have excellent shaves and days ahead this week!
