Budimir Sobat set the official static apnea (breath-holding in water) world record of 24 minutes 33 seconds on this date in 2021


A sort of Hemingway shave this morning, with the Ivory brush and Diamondback razor reminding me of his African safaris, in addition to the Caribbean-scented shaving cream and aftershave. My only 'connection' to Hemingway is the fact that while in high school I dated a girl who at one time held the women's world record for a marlin caught on a particular weight of fishing line.

I always find that a Shave with a fresh FPG blade is a good one. Today was no exception and the combo poured through a couple of days growth with ease, in fact the Shave was completed very quickly such was the effectiveness of the blade.

Thought I'd start off with an inexpensive straight it was honed by the seller on ebay,i just want to see if i can maintain a decent edge by stropping before i go down another rabbit hole, first pass was excellent with very little to clean up with the game changer that is on standby for my head shave,i love the way the razor sings compared to a shavette.

Soap: Seaforth! Sea Spiced Lime Puck
Balm: Seaforth! Spice Lime Aftershave Toner Lotion
Fragrance: Seaforth! Sea Spiced Lime Eau de Toilette

My first shave with the original Occam, and thankfully it shaves in a very similar manner to the nano. It’s an obviously heavier razor but not massively much more than the Oren. It is very similar and the shave is as effortless as the Oren, with the end results being an amazingly smooth shave almost as close as the Oren. I was worried the slightly bigger base plate would make for a more difficult under the nose shave but everything went without a hitch. I guess it doesn’t quite zip as speedily around the face as the Oren, but on my first shave it’s been very nearly just as amazing and certainly as enjoyable. It won’t stop me looking for an Oren but I’m extremely happy with the original and it’s a great addition to the den! I’ll do a direct comparison tomorrow of the original vs Oren but it’s a very close call on my first shave.

Hows the Leodis signature shave soap? I'm working through 4 of Brians soaps at the moment and they are fantastic, so easy to lather and fantastic scents and slickness etc. The leodis scent sounds amazing.

It's the only Signature scent I've been able to get my hands on so far here in the USA, but it is definitely an amazing scent. I love it.

La Faulx is an excellent razor and good looking as well. Would I buy it? May be, but with one of the more aggressive plates. The standard version is extremely comfortable but could just be a little bit more efficient.
