Artist Club Feather DX Japanese razor/AC Feather Super Professional (6)

I am enjoying the kamisori handle of the DX. It is not slippery when wet. There are options for holding and I find I can easily roll the blade for rounded facial features.

The blade is beginning to wane, but it still achieves an excellent shave with two passes and a little horizontal cleanup.

Is the lather that LPL soap provide, airy and light?

Sure is

No, for me the lather is a bit like yogurt, creamy enough and not airy

A nice shave today with one of the early English Model Myatt razors, both my Myatt heads do not take newer blades so i need to use a Yaqi cap to run it. Some of the later models can take the new blade format though.
The razor itself is a very handsome chap, i really like the sculptured lather channels and they work a treat.

Saturday, September Nineteenth's Shave Of The Day was good... been a weird couppla days... & our foruming has part of it... hahaha

did 1 buffing on this fatboy with the 59 Gillette Fatboy(5) loaded with Shark Super Chrome... lefty wasn't cooperating enough... so we decided not to slice up the face with the shavette... had no problems... we're smoof & sniffing good... from the aftershave shower...

A farewell to a great artisan. Courtney & Stephen did a fantastic job with these soaps. ​

The brand first appeared somewhere between 2018-2019. This was my very first artisan I bought from the US along with Seville and Barbershop (Stirling).

I loaded for roughly 35 seconds. The soap started very pasty and heavy, almost like liquid Elmer's glue. Copious amount of water weren't even enough to break down the soap's texture.

In the end, the lather took enough volume and the density was equal to a tallow based soap from the upper shelf, you name it.

2.5 passes with some touch ups on setting #6 were enough for a very close shave with no nicks, blood or irritation/razor burn. Slickness in the first pass was good but the razor was dragging on the neck. The reason? Not enough water.

Second pass with the lather even more hydrated, the properties were fantastic. Crazy residual slickness, dear Lord, I dropped the razor twice.

Howeve, the razor is bulky for my taste, very effective though, even on lower settings. 9 euros for this, with very good blade alignment, is definitely a steal, just not for me. If you want, give it a try. @p.b Enabler Paul first tried it, I got hyped and influenced as well and bought it too. Paul in the end didn't like it, but he is just too new to wet shaving, I don't blame him. He will learn with time. He is young.

It's a shame that a great brand like this closed its doors, the soaps were freaking amazing.

Thankfully I also have a full tub of Carmilla, an old time feminine scent, but with a smoky twist. Lady Bathory the Bloody Countess could wear it. But I definitely like it a lot.

Durham Dorset with Stirling Almost Heaven

I have a NOS pack of Durham blades I've been sitting on and it's remained unopened for quite a while. Why?
Because I wasn't expecting much from them to be honest.

Boy was I wrong! This ended up being one of my favorite shaves as of late. I pre washed my face like I was going to do a straight razor shave and everything just came together for a great experience..I even used both sides of the razor head like a pro.
Good stuff!
Stropped the blade on linen and leather after.. I'm curious about what kind of mileage I'll get out of it.

Shave Rating: DAM FINE SHAVE, VERY Close to BBS as you could want.


Comments: Using my Vintage Gillette - 1957 Flair Tip DE Safety Razor, with a Personna - Gem Platinum Diamond Glide Double Edge Blades. I really like this Razor & Blade combo, efficient, sharp, blade is super sharp. Almost prefect, but noting is perfect.

Today was normal routine, Three Pass Shave, better than NORMAL DFS results, close as could be to a BBS but not BBS. TECHNIQUE IS KEY TO GOOD SHAVES, Razor, Blade, Brush, & last Shave Soap, Croap, or Cream. THREE DIRECTIONS TODAY, yielded a DFS, almost BBS result.

My Soap was Razor Emporium - 2026 Meetup - Limited Edition - Soap Sample, I got at Arizona Wet Shave Meetup February 2026, at Razor Emporium Shop in Phoenix, Arizona. Like this Soap because you use so little, it is pretty easy to Lather, and it leaves my Face in wonderful condition post Shave. This Soaps Base IMHO is close to PAA’s CK-6, like the 2023 Meetup Edition Soap.

Honestly I use a Baskin Robbins - 31 Flavors, FREE TASTE Spoon. Use like a Level Spoon of this Soap scooped into my Shave Bowl, Damp Brush, and about a Full Teaspoon H2O applied by atomizer. THICK CREAM LATHER is end results. Product is super easy to work with even a Caveman could do it. This Soap does the three things well, Soaps need to do, Wet & Soften Beard, Provide Slick Shave Surface, and last leave Skin nice post Shave. This Soap Sample hit a home-run for me, it preformed wonderful, if I allow time for Soap veto sit on my Face to do it’s Magic, Beard Softening, before Shaving Off. Not sure this particular Soap will ever became a regular offer from Razor Emporium. Time will tell.

Still using New AliExpress - Chinese Made - Navy Ceramic Lathering Bowl works some much better then the Plastic AliExpress Lathering Bowl with Flower Pattern, this New Lather Bowl was under $7.00, snd I would call it a Best Buy. It sort of poor mans copy of a Captain’s Choice - Ceramic Lather Bowl.

This Razor, Blade, Soap combo works better than great, for a 70 Year Old Vintage. Correct me if you disagree BUT IMHO IT ALL ABOUT Technique, Technique, Technique, is way more important than SHAVING TOOLS. Never ever will chase BBS, Skin problems, why do I need too? DFS is good enough for me, this Non Tallow Based Soap provided some extra slick to my shave, over all results were DFS.+++.
