Prep for tonight was just hot water splashed on my face.
I did a quick shower and shave this morning and now it is time for a proper celebratory shave. I had a good eye pressure exam and now it is time for some pampering.
I sharpened and stopped all three of my razors. The Col. Conk is the oldest so I gave it a try. It performed better than I expected. I haven't done a straight razor shave in some time. I got as close with one pass as I usually do with 3. The Nivea calmed things right down. Bod Man fresh guy brought a taste of spring.

First of all... I apologize for being so late with the reply, Sir.
The fact is I prefer razors with short handles. I do find them more controllable. Not a fan of long handles at all. Other than that... a great razor, especially because it's adjustable.

Early morning shave,
The Proraso Blue cream created a nice creamy slick protective lather with only a small amount in a short space of time.
The residual slickness is excellent leaving a superb post-shave from the addition of the Aloe Vera and vitamin E making my mature skin feel soft & moisturized.
A close acceptable face shave to finish my shaving week of on a high.
Finishing to the shave off with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Replenishing PSB.
My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.

Soap: Stuga Coconut & Fresh Lime
Brush: Jack the Barber synthetic
Razor: Henson AL-13M
Blade: Muhle Stainless (4th use)
Aftershave: Old Spice Fresh Lime
My first go trying out the Stuga Coconut & Fresh Lime artisan soap. My preferred method is to scrape a few thin shavings into a bowl and then whip up the lather whilst adding extra water if needs be. I was quite impressed by the soap which is dominated by the coconut rather than the lime. The lather was decent and quite slick and not particularly thirsty. Standard and effective two-pass job with the Henson and a fourth-use Muhle blade. Old Spice Fresh Lime sealed the deal. Enjoy your shaves everyone...

Straight vs Twisted:
Rex Ambassador (setting 4) vs
Rex Konsul Slant (max setting 6)
This is a comparison I have never actually done. I have always had the Ambassador down as one of my closest shavers, typically chasing BBS+ on settings 5/6, so for this test I dropped the Ambassador to setting 4 to approximate the feel of the Konsul. In hindsight, setting 2 may have been a better match purely from a feel perspective.
The first thing that stood out was blade feel. The Ambassador on 4 still delivers a very present, direct sensation, but with ‘noticeably’ more blade on the face than the Konsul maxed out. It is efficient, no question, but you are always aware of the blade and what it is doing.
The Konsul, by contrast, was immediately smoother. Even on max, it has that torqued, gliding character where the edge feels more controlled and much less in your face, particularly on the ATG passes where it really shines.
Post shave alum feedback told a similar story, with a step up on the Ambassador side.
End result, proper BBS from both, and still smooth 10 hours later.
Conclusion: Same result, very different journey. The Ambassador needs good prep and is not a razor I would rush. The Konsul just gets there smoothly and is easily a daily driver for me.
