This was in fact yesterdays shave but I've only just found the time to write up my report.

I realise I'm lucky and I want to thank those who congratulated me on winning the ATG prize draw for this Seygus brass razor set with both open comb and bar type base plates. I'm truly thrilled and grateful. Thank you.

Today was the first outing with the OC base plate and wow this was a very fine shaving experience..

It comes nicely packaged in a foam lined type tin box. The newer style 89mm handle is just lovely and the grip when wet didn't pose any issues. The brass build and finish is excellent with no sharp or nasty edges and the open comb teeth although profound and wide apart felt smooth and comfortable. Being brass the added bonus was how well it held the heat.

It's quite weighty and I've come to learn when using heavy razors the lightest touch is preferable allowing the weight of the razor to do the work. Dialling in the angle was again very simple.

I'd describe this OC version as a medium aggressive razor. I shave daily and it dealt with 27 hours of stubble really well providing a smooth an efficient shave. The head is nice and thin so those little awkward places like under the nose and such wasn't an issue.

I've had issues in the past with a few OC razors leaving my face tender but that wasn't the case here. Two passes plus one clean up pass and I'm BBS without any post irritation or tenderness whatsoever. I can see this OC plate being suitable for both daily and infrequent shavers.

Seygus did a superb job on the razor and although this is my first brass razor I do know quality when I see it and believe me this is quality. It'll be interesting to see how long before the shiny finish begins to tarnish and what type of patina begins to develop and whether I decide to polish it or not.

I only have one piece of advice for Seygus and it's this; please improve your packaging. I fully appreciate this was a gift for which I'm grateful but the tin did sustain a few dings in transit and a simple jiffy bag doesn't offer enough protection. Your buyers may be very unhappy if the storage tin arrives damaged.

Although a different handle, I'm keen to compare my experience with the Seygus brass OC pass around razor HERE and again I want to thank Gustavo @Thalasos from Seygus for this generous gift.

I'm proud to own this razor and although this was it's first use, today's shave was a very pleasurable experience.

Next shave report will be the brass closed bar plate and then I'm on to the Asylum RX pass around. I've already used the Asylum RX. Unfortunately, it wasn't as pleasurable as the Seygus but more of that to follow. :)

Speick Active Soap
Supply S/S S Edge
Schick NOS Plat S/S [ 1- Sweden}
Alum Rub/Rinse off
Tuff Green A/S
Arrived Yesterday- Shave Today
Decided to play safe on my first outing with this Razor and use the Plate fitted [ No 2 ]. Initial loading marred by the fact that blade needs a nudge to reach the second stop. I am not sure if the blade rests against this stop properly. A friend has said he may resort to hand loading , an option but not satisfactory on a new Razor.

The Shave was OK, finding the angle was easy but very little blade feel. In fact it was difficult to believe that whiskers were actually being eliminated, the razor seemed that mild. I eventually with quite a lot of polishng work I got a close finish on
my cheeks and chin, but perhaps due to unfamiliarity was not so good around the neck.

Obviously will have to have a few more shaves on this and other plates, but at the moment feel that I get better shaves with
my PAL Adjustable.
