Simpson Brushes Appreciation Thread

That's disappointing based upon your purchase.
Can't remember if it was Paul? @p.b but someone here purchased a brush from APShave Co using their latest fibres supposed to be that which Simpson uses. I recall there was disappointment with that brush too.
Yes, it was me. Not a bad brush but nothing like as good as the more recent Platinums.

Approximately 54mm 🧐

This is the old Sovereign fibre that we all know and love. Easy to splay, slightly scrubby and decent but not overbearing backbone.
Looking at the Simpson website, all the listed Sovereign Fibre brushes have knots that look identical to that we already know.
A loft of 54mm should give ample splay in Sovereign. My T3 is 53mm and perfect for swirling and paintbrush strokes.
I'm still of the opinion that Sapphire is Platinum grade despite Anna's comment.

It definitely looks more like a platinum, even on the handle it’s says “synthetic bristle” and not “sovereign”.
Agree about it being a Platinum.

The mail quoted above says that Platinum is now also 'slightly different' - I guess that's a matter of taste!

On a positive note (and off topic), two of my Simpsons brushes in Super Badger from this year have been excellent - far better than my previous experiences with their Super :)

Despite the knot in the Polo12 looking like it was put in on the wonk it probably my favourite but I’m very pleased with all three.
