Bill, this brush caught my eye on the Simpson website just now. It's 100 pounds off for Black Friday. It's a looker for sure; how does it fare in use? 23 knot is smaller than I usually go for...I'm into wetshaving for many reasons, and much of it has to do with tradition. I know that there are many great brushmakers out there, but few can boast the traditional aspect of the Simpson name. Now, I'm aware that Simpson brushes are made by Progress/Vulfix on the Isle of Man, and that's fine with me since, aside from the handles being formed on CNC machinery, all aspects are done in the traditional manner.
I've been a Simpsons fan in the past, and remain one... actually, this feeling being somewhat reinforced over the years.
Anyway, I've been looking at this brush on Simpsons site for ages, and finally saw my way clear to make one mine. The Simpsons "58" LE in faux Tortoise... a nice chock of Manchurian hair ...

Only one reference for me, the TSN M6 with glue bump, but it’s a good knot, so I don’t think I’m averse to Simp Manch. I was thinking more in terms of knot size and loft?I love the brush, Halvor, but then, I like "Manchurian" hair.. It's up there with my favorites.
At £100 off, it would be hard to pass up!
Lovely David! What is the knot size may I ask?A big thank you to Mark for making this custom Emerald CH2 Manchurian with a lower than standard loft. Much appreciated, my friend.
Thanks, Chris.Lovely David! What is the knot size may I ask?
Enjoy David!Thanks, Chris.
The knot measures 29mm at the opening and a loft of 50mm. It's the standard diameter, but the regular loft usually comes out at 52mm. I already have a CH2 from 2012, set at 48mm.
That is a real beauty David!A big thank you to Mark for making this custom Emerald CH2 Manchurian with a lower than standard loft. Much appreciated, my friend.
