Love both tins.That reminds me of its brother product Black Treacle. Haven't had any for years but school dinners were often suet pudding with black treacle and I understand that expert cooks coat gammon or ham shanks with black treacle.

Or otherwise known as light treacle, a major ingredient in Treacle Tart, delicious served hot with custard.
To me pancake means crepe. Golden syrup was a popular topping when I was growing up, now I prefer lemon juice and sugar.I didn't know golden syrup was a thing on its own, rather than something used by the food industry as an ingredient to dilute honey and such. Only had stuff like jam or cottage cheese with a bit of sugar with my pancakes, when I was a kid. Maybe because I've never had American-style pancakes, only crepes. My current favourite filling for those is grated/pureed apples with ground white poppy seeds and raisins or chopped dates or prunes.![]()
It's the same for me.To me pancake means crepe.
Growing up I never knew anyone who made crepes just pancakes or Finnish pancakes which were a little thinner.To me pancake means crepe.
Now that goes well with Newfie Toutons.And then there's Blackstrap Molasses;

To combine two that have already been mentioned, toast, butter, Marmite and mature Cheddar
Others would be chip shop chips with loads of vinegar and a proper warm, buttery French croissant fresh from a bakery (will be waiting a while for one of these)
Marmite should be considered one of the main food groups. Excellent with cheeseAnother vote for cheese and good bread. Very fond of a white stilton, also strong cheddar, brie and camembert.
Marmite is essential, and unsalted butter every time.
