Silly Scam Calls

My late grandmother, who died at 103 in 2012 used to send Rex Humbard (1919-2007) money in the 1970's.
Similar story with my father and Tom Mix, sent money well into the 1950s, he had heard that the western film star had fallen on hard times and because he used to sign in as Tom Mix at Army events he thought it was the least he could do. He was shocked when he found out the Tom had died
in 1940.

Early pic of Tom Mix.

Father's best friend used to sign in as D. Duck.

( I am assuming that you don't need a pic of Donald)

I had a call from 'EE' the other day. She was going to halve my phone bill. Which was going to amazing considering I'm not with EE.

Strung her along until she asked for my bank details. Told her I needed to find a bank statement. Put her on mute and carried on working. Every few mins she would ask I had found the statement. Replied with 'Almost' and 'nearly'.

Took 18mins for her to hang up.

I used to work with a guy who would deal with unwanted phone calls by opening his desk drawer, dropping the phone receiver into it and then closing the draw.

He would carry on working and then go back into the drawer about 10 minutes later, to pick up the receiver and replace it on the phone cradle.
