An 03 Megane - No pictures, I won't sully the thread!

In my defence I needed something at short notice that would fit the family, camping equipment, bags and a dog in and come in at under £1500 cash. It's done the business for me over the last 6 years up and down the UK with only 1 easily sorted MOT failure on a loose clip so not bad as a workhorse.

I do like to search the AutoTrader and dream though....one day!

I could look it up but what's a Varis, an Evo with a carbon fibre kit?

You're not a wolf in sheep's clothing sorta guy then...:)

Varis is the company that manufacture the Widebody kit, based in Japan. Aero with a mix of function and style. Not everyone's cup of tea.

No, I'm not. It has a titanium exhaust so I'm heard well before I'm seen. It's not a daily drive, that would drive me and the neighbours nuts.

Know the feeling.

A few years ago when I had my Mini Cooper, I tuned it to stage one. The exhaust was a lightweight manifold and a single box. It was a case of start and leave as quickly and with as less revs as possible. Once on the open roads SWMBO could still hear me a good distance away.

Love Mini's, had a few now. Picked up a new JCW last week which is my daily, good laugh, feisty little thing but will stay standard, I've enough with one money pit. Going to give it a wash tomorrow if the weathers kind, may as well take a pic while I'm at it.

Mrs' new car ...

It's a standard FIAT 500 'Pop Star' with alloy wheels and uprated U-Connect system with leather steering wheel (her choices).

Pretty good fun! I've enjoyed the FIATs that I've had - Cinq (really excellent little car in almost every way), Siecento (very briefly, seriously regretting the trade-up and so quickly onto ...), Punto MK1 Sporting (16V), Punto MK1 GT (what a giggle!), Punto MK1 Sporting (16V) again ... then onto SAABs. Damn good on fuel, nippy and seemingly very popular as you can't got more than a handful of cars without seeing one.

I like the dash there Paul. Very nice.

My first car was a Punto (Mk1 I think?) and though it was just a standard model it was still quite a nippy little thing for a 1 litre engine. That is until you put 3 passengers and a couple of suitcases in the boot and hit a hill - it got very slow then! And once it had it's first major breakdown it became a bit of a money drain and constantly breaking down until I got fed up and had it scrapped. I'll always have a soft spot for them though.

It's very common...normal practice I'd say, for blokes here (and most other similar places) to offer favourable and supportive comments when looking at, say, a picture of another member's recently acquired shaving brush or whatever. Stuff like "Great brush, Tommy" or " Super lather you've got there, Algernon" or "Cracking shot of the bloom, Wilf".

Regulars will (hopefully) know I'm not routinely disrespectful of other peep's gear...but I have to be honest and say the Scooby featured above just isn't remotely up my street. Everything from the shiny black air dam at the front to the, marginally unmissable, spoiler at the back (and including the, apparently equally difficult to miss, exhaust system) fills me with .......feelings that I'm not keen on it.

Almost all Scoobys seem to make the same noise though and a glance at scoobynet reveals that giant spoilers are not uncommon. And... each to his own...and .... Sid did say it's not everyone's cup of tea.

No, give me a nice 1979, beige Austin Allegro Super Deluxe any day ...the one with the square steering wheel... (I think they called it a quartic wheel). A car like that really DOES say something about a man.

A big double smiley at this point - :):)

And men who don't know the difference between a Subaru and a Mitsubishi really does say something about them too..

In that case I hide my head in shame.

I really was only really posting with a large degree of Tongue in cheek and a bit of humour...I hope you haven't got the 'ump...it sounds a bit like it.
