That Skoda with the 1.5 will be lovely.
My missus has the Seat Leon 70 plate with 1.0 tsi manual config and I am astounded by the pep.
A mate of mine has the same 1.0 in a Kamiq and has no complaints so the 1.5 will be just fine.
We have the 1.0 ltr in the Octavia, that’s a 19 plate estate and it’s a fine engine especially considering the size of the Octavia. I wanted the bigger engine and fancied a change to an auto. The Monte Carlo has some nice finishing touches too. Well pleased so far.

Any tips to get the best out of a dsg ?
I'd say, just get used to how much accelerator it needs for it change gear. Too much and it will drop a couple of gears instantaneously and launch you forward. Gently does it and you'll find it can be as relaxed and docile as an old Jag. I've driven LOADS of cars over the last couple of years, whilst travelling for work (all autos) and the DSG is (for me) the best of them all.

I tell a lie, we had a brand new Jag XE auto sport that was pretty impressive!

Did see that on line, also seen you can sport mode by pulling the gear selector and releasing when it’s in drive and moving.

Does it have paddles? The paddles put it into temporary manual, it drops back into auto after 10 seconds or so. You have a choice of Drive, Sport or Manual. I use Drive 90% of the time.

No not on the Kamiq, drive is selectable the same modes you mention.

My recent delivery was a 1.5 DSG Seat Ateca Technology SE on a 70 plate. The 1.5 is shared across the VAG range and the Seat and Skoda are built on the same production line. I looked at the Skoda Karoq but decided the Seat looked sportier. It's the smallest engined car I've had since the 90s but then it does have a turbo :D The deal I struck worked out less than that for a Seat Arona which, I guess, is the equivalent of the Skoda Kamiq. I'm not sure anyone made any money on the deal, except maybe me.
The DSG was beset with software problems until around mid 2020. I've no real grumbles with mine, having driven autos for more than 20 years; however, I simply won't drive mine with start/stop enabled - even the slight incline on my drive puts it into a flap when I slow for the turn. It's just not worth the hassle.
I was slightly nonplussed by the 370 page owner's manual but I reckon I'm getting there.
It's just a shame that the lockdown means I'm not putting many miles in :(

Very pleased with the new car. DSG gear box is very smooth, shame I’m not LOL !!! Starting off from stationary I’m lurching forward a bit. Thing my lad hit it on the head, I’m starting off like I’m still in a manual, looking for the biting point a bit with the accelerator, if you know what i mean. Love the black lettering and the colour.

Went and bought one of these bad boys- a vw phaeton in 3 litre turbo-
and this time around -I went for the 3.0l turbo diesel model-(as regretted ever selling my older first version v6 - 3.2 petrol version-) and not disappointed-
And as a bonus-this newer facelift -model- one-comes with all the new led upgrades- including the interior led pack-new sat nav-and is also-as a bonus -a 4wd model- and now fitted with all round 4 wheel drive-and also the newer -and self levelling, air suspension-lovely and superbly quiet inside- (down to the 3 layers of door and window-seals -and double glazing all around-)
on approaching a corner- even the new - 3 led fog lamp on each side-- modules fire up, and illuminate the -actual sides of the road-(as these newer cars have an inbuilt 3 lens camera mounted under the rear mirror-unit for lane detection ,road signs etc! a godsend for sure-, on dark unlit roads etc.
so- not missing my previous Jaguar XF- turbo diesel model at all!!
and can easily live -without the flappy paddles -and the stop start and or electronic brake as well-
just a superb and extremely roomy car-measures-longer than a transit van-on our ferry-crossings!! and must be a good .75 metres of extra width inside the cabin-refined -and for peanuts these cars-??
so -uxury on a shoestring-for those who know???

My experience of DSG gearboxes is that you can’t drive them indecisively. Unlike a torque converter there’s no damping so when you go on the throttle and back off and then tip-in again you confuse it. Just push to go and enjoy the smoothness.
