I’m needing to change the Seat Ibiza for something more future-proof. Once the baby’s car seat is in there’s little front passenger space and not a huge amount of room for transporting the usual paraphernalia. Our folks are 40 miles and 100 miles away and we have a few breaks in Snowdonia and Devon each year so we do need the space.
My daily commute is only 20-25 miles, although mostly on A roads, so I’m thinking an estate - probably petrol. I’m leaning towards a car loan on a one-to-three year-old motor with respectable (preferably motorway!) miles on the clock but there probably aren’t many options in that niche. I’m probably looking at VAG, Honda or (left field) Subaru, I guess...
The out going Yeti has been a fantastic car. Looks a bit different. Great boot space and the rear seat are on rails meaning you can squeeze in a bit more boot space. Our kids are older, but it would of been brilliant when they were younger. We got four large suitcases, four carry on bags, and four adults in it.
There should be quite a few coming up second hand ex pcp. But they are respected and sometimes sort after. Great engines, we had the 1.2 petrol which is used across the VAG range. I’ve been managing 48 mpg on urban. It’s nippy enough and the turbo helps it along.
Insurance was cheap enough, but me and SWMBO are over 50 with over 35 years driving each, full no claims and clean licences.
Look out for 17 plate Yeti’s, they were end of line, we had an SE technology with over £2,000 extras added on.
