Shaving gear that's being discontinued or is it?

You know, when sellers "leak" that a shaving product is no longer in production and people run like sheep to order caseloads of the stuff, only to find its still in regular production months later. I've seen it happen with Polsilver DE blades multiple times, Williams Mug soap and GSB blades. Thoughts?

I think it's wrong to single out the 'sellers'. They could be acting in good faith having been told by the distributor who in turn may have been told something by someone at the manufacturers etc.
I can't think of a product that I'd immediately rush out and stock up on if I heard a rumour. There's that many good products out there I'd just move on, and of course the emporers new clothes are always around the corner. More concerning than the fudders are the shillers.

only thing I can say on this is that I wouldn't rush to buy in if I heard such a thing, I'm 28 and probably have enough to last many lifetimes

I do however thing that if some is branded as limited edition then it should remain exactly that, limited. Not released each year or every few years. But that's just my opinion.

I almost rushed out twice to buy shaving items - both times were price increases.

I also admit to regretting the "no buy" decision on one of the items.

+1. There was another such announcement by Colgate/Palmolive last year to the effect that they were withdrawing from shaving products. They've pulled this stunt previously but there are so many other budget creams and shaving soap sticks available I haven't bothered to restock. Lo and behold Palmolive products are still on the shelves.

I can't think of a product that would make me want to stock up before its disappearance.

If a product is any good and sells in good numbers, why would it be withdrawn? I can think of an example when a Norwegian maker decided that all the certification was too much but that's an exception. So, if something is being withdrawn, it's presumably down to the fact that it's not selling well enough.

Retailer, Distributor, Wholesaler. all = Seller. I guess it depends on the source of the information. I've had it go the other way where something was de-listed and such details were only released after the fact. I guess its better to hear the fire alarm, only to find out its a false alarm that no alarm at all.
