Achieving the balance between needing, wanting and being happy with your lot will always be difficult in my opinion.
The initial buzz of buying like the proverbial kid in the sweet shop is definately gone for me and things like fancy brushes or fancy hard to get razors like the Wolfman are items I no longer hanker after. Indeed, selling some of the pretty baubles I picked up during my "must have one of those" phase such as my two Wolf Whisker brushes and my Hone provided the funds for me to buy the Timeless on BST. My ATG Shavemac also went (heresy I know but it went to a good home), along with the sale of the majority of my B&M soaps to allow me to get my hands on a Blackland Sabre again from BST.
However, both of these razors themselves can be considered high end shaving paraphernalia - so not therefore an essential item - but they give me what I want in terms of a razor in terms of both performance and looks (okay, ideally, I would have loved to have a polished version of the Sabre but cannot really justify the cost of buying and importing direct from the US so grabbed the opportunity when a machined one became available on BST). I have a DE option and a SE option when I fancy a change. Both these razors make me happy with my lot razor wise, (well nearly lol... I would like to add a solidguard .68 baseplate at some point). I have a nice muhle silvertip fibre brush for bowl lathering and a TOBS Silvertip Badger brush for face lathering obtained via BST and a raffle respectively . Soap wise Phoenix and Beau and Wickham's meet all my needs (although I have a couple of Eufros and B&M remaining from my soap cull). My only problem is that they keep releasing new great scents and, just like Pokemon, I gotta try them all. So perfect balance for me will always remain just out of reach...For me who views this shaving malarkey as more nuanced than the chore of removing whiskers from my face, I am happy that this is the case.
