Random question that has been running through my mind. Do you think hard water attributes to crisp hairs? Or is it down to the hair?
Hair.
I have softened water yet still have at least three brushes that dry VERY crispy.

I remember seeing something about putting crisp packets with a little fairy liquid in the oven, they shrink just like magic :)
Edit: empty packets

I think you will find soft water is definitely kinder to hair than hard water.
Yes, hard water has more lime than soft water.
This lime getting stuck to the hair and you must clean your brush more frecuently
I has soft water and I like clean my brushes every four or five months using first some dish soap and after that some shampoo and hair conditioner

Before and after

Deutsche Post tracking says my brush was delivered to Canada Post on 11 October, but Canada Post tracking says that it has no interface with Deutsche Post...???? In consequence, I know only that my brush is in Canada, but no idea when it might be delivered.

I am experiencing the opposite. The last group buy shavemac unique fan crispy when dry then supersoft when wet. This knot is much softer even when dry. The difference is most noticeable to even HID.
Anyone waiting for a brush count yourselves lucky you aren't dealing with Royal Mail UK. I had my Ferdman brush dispatched from the U.S via USPS. South Hadley MA to London UK 3 days. 6th-9th Oct. London to Leeds UK 3 hours away still not delivered 9th to 13th Oct. Royal Mail must be the most inept postal service in the developed world? 5 days+ for 3 hrs. AAAAAAAAAARRRRRGH! Muppets.

@DudeAbides I see where your coming from, as I mentioned before i'm waiting for the tips to crispen up. However, after 3 uses the tips have morphed form straight to curled and are continuing to do so. My knots have a few longer hairs poking up beyond the circumference of the bulb, not a halo effect but random hairs. Not an issue though scalpel and tweezers (only had 3 hairs max per knot).
I completely agree the last group buy was exhibiting gel tips from the second or third shave. However I could not describe it as having the levels of scrub or backbone that this unique bulb exhibits. Without any scritch after the first use. Now the interesting part. Which do you prefer? I prefer this group buys dimensions. It really is softening up with each shave and as a bulb knot the scrub and plump feel is delightful. I know now that the tips are curling the brush will only get softer. It isn't crispy as yet, I do hope after another 5 uses this occurs to present a gel like feel. Currently it's more a cloud soft feel. It has not bloomed a lot which again is my preference. In conclusion definitely give the knot some more use it should develop gel tips IMO.
Allow me to geek out a little bit with the understanding that I love the look of the brush and if I've never experienced Shavemac 2BST hooked gel tips this brush and knot would be tops.
I've only palm lather-rinsed it a couple of times with Tabac and face lather-shaved with it one time. I obviously need to use it many times over to really get to know the brush characteristics. I will say that my first impression is that although soft I wouldn't describe it near the characteristics of the original Unique knot on first use. It's soft yet not cloudlike in my opinion. It has some scritch due to the errant black hairs which the original has none what so ever. I have to admit, the addition and reluctance to remove the black hairs bothers me though I can easily remove them myself. I know I'm not on an island regarding this. Talk to Aldo from The Varlet and he will tell you that he does not leave a black hair in any of his hand made knots. Then again request a brush from him and wait a year. I'm one year and counting though I'm Ok with it, and I digress. Ok back to it. Although less backbone it is still in my wheelhouse and I have no significant complaints. I create lather off the puck and then apply it to my face, I have no revealing observations other than it performed without effort and created mounds of lather due to the added density and ample backbone.
I'm very happy that I requested a lower loft at 50 especially with a chubby style handle and my perception of less backbone, plus it looks spot on. I believe 48 (exactly) would hold up too and would be interesting to see what the scrub would be like.
I do see hooked tips forming, one of my favorite attributes regarding 2BST. I don't put any hope into the creation of gel tips after several uses, I've never experienced that happening in fact just the opposite. The crunchy when dry and gelled when wet lessens after many uses is what has happened to all of my hooked gel tips. The last group buy Unique, not so much, it's still fairly new and is very crunchy when dry and very gelled when wet.
If this current knot is holding back, and magically reveals gel tips, I will eat my words and gladly report back. I hope I do. It's hard to make a decision as to which unique knot I prefer though my current inclination is to pick the last group buy Unique. Thanks Nishy, your group buys are the crack and I hope to be apart of many more. Cheers!

Wayne,
I would not be surprised if our friends at HMRC have intercepted your package, if so expect the dreaded grey card from RM, a customs bill and a nice RM surcharge to top it off.
Happy Days :banghead:

Remember that Moya Green the head of Royal Mail previously was the head of Canada Post. Under her watch Canada Post started to do away with door-to-door residential delivery in favour of community mailboxes.
